  1. The jig looks great. I was wondering if you take your own pictures, they look great, and so does your web site.
  2. Try this ....... www.metalworksstamping.com Great to do business with.
  3. My solution is water based paints, and also I pour Etex for top coat with acrylic for sealing, that the way I do it in my basement with a blower and filter to blow outside, along with fire extinguisher close by. My wood shop is a small building outside. BE SMART NOT DUMB!!
  4. OK Thompsons is out. How about a two part epoxy A & B from Component Systems I have tried it and it hardens and soaks in pretty good. What you think? anybody ever use it on Maple or Basswood
  5. Sounds good to me THANKS!!!!! Although I plan on making a pressure tank to put my lures in to push a sealer in farther. I am using Bass Wood for Musky lures. Think that is over kill.

    Sealer

Has anyone ever used Thompson's Water Sealer for sealing their wood baits.
  7. Well I will put my 2 cents in on this. Most of the Patent Pending words on a lure box is just there. No real Patent Pending is going on or it has run out. Some of the big boys patents have run out and are not worth redoing, but they don't remove the words from there package. Who really knows. It is very expensive to secure a real patent, and the slight changes to a lure that one makes from them become KO's or become a new idea or do they, look at the world of jigs, spinner baits, buck tails and so on. Just my 2 cents. Everyone keep up the good work. The paintings I see on this site inspire me to just make mine half as good but keep striving to make mine the best that I can. Even to sell a few will make my day. I enjoy flea markets where you can talk to the buyer. So now I will be going on Ebay because of the gas cost it kills you, and Ebay is not cheap either.
  8. BoBP Will DT2 do a better job on edges. Does brushing do a better job on the edges. I pour and hang my lures.
  9. Everyone is talking about DT2, who does Etex with a turner and how is it working for you. My problem is the the edges on a jerk bait with Etex. I don't want to round off the corners more than I do now. Any suggestions.
  10. I turned one on a lathe. Tool must be sharp, #2 I noticed that if you take too much off it will take out little chunks. Towards the center I also noticed a more porous finish, just need more time to work with than with wood. Plus must wear a mask. Hope this helps since I only did it on one piece.
  11. You could try Mixol Dye. http:www.woodcraft...Tones-Set.aspx
  12. Has anyone ever used WAGNER PAINT EASY. It is supposed to improve paint spraying. Mixes with any paint. Thins paint without diluting.
  13. I would try Surplus Center they have any size and RPM you need www.surpluscenter.com
  14. To help with sanding the round edge I use a 1/2" insulation pipe and cut it into half leaving two half round sides, then with some spray adhesive stick what ever sandpaper I want in it, it makes a nice holder and fits nice in the hand, You can also use those pool noodles and cut them in half. I am also sold on PVC for flat sided lures not totally sold on turning them on a lathe yet.
  15. "Ditto" on the band saw, you will get ten times more use from it than with a scroll saw.
  16. Of course this all depends on if the fish are biting or not............getting to deep for me, but interesting. Thanks guys for the info.
  17. Does not seem to but I wonder about the cost. The dye is costly and if you are only going to use small amounts then less dye is needed, but on larger amounts it takes quite a bit to get rid of being transparent.
  18. Has anyone ever mixed any E-Tex and Mixol dye. I tried and it made a nice base paint and first sealer.
  19. Has anyone made a wooden tackle box. Just thinking about making one. I would make one for musky lures.
  20. I got mine at Home Depot.
  21. Thanks Mark I will still keep trying to get this right I like to make 15 to 20 baits at a time. I use 150 grit on my drum I think I will router the edges less and maybe that will help. Maybe I am just trying to go to fast. It is AZEK that I am using. I like the idea of the waterproof aspect of the PVC. Again thanks.
  22. I didn't have any problems with the PVC material, cutting, drilling, routing, turning, or hand sanding, just when I came to machine sanding, flat was good but rounding was hard to do because it took it off fast, and I do most of my sanding on a flexible drum sander and the slightest touch was needed which is easily done with basswood. So I will stick with basswood which works for me. Also it is more expensive to use.
  23. Yes the PVC glue works. (dummy on my part) Need a lot of venting with that glue. I will be turning down one later today to see how it works, it did ok on the plane. I will pass on what I find out about turning on the lathe.
  24. On this Azex PVC can you plane it or will it melt from planing, and how does it turn on a lathe, good, fair or bad. Also What glue would you use to put two halves together.
