  1. On that size bait I would finish with KBS 2 dips, no etex. Wayne
  2. Looks like I will make a resin bait after I make out of cedar for testing then figure out where and how much weight to use. Then figure how to place in the resin bait TEST...TEST...TEST. Thanks Guys Wayne
  3. Anglinarcher I am making a large musky lure 14" long I like the idea of your system of pouring. I am just trying to figure out how to pour that long of a lure through the tail and turn it to fill the sides other than spinning it as I pour in the resin than later use a foam to fill the rest of it. Any thoughts on this anyone. Wayne
  4. I wonder if you can dip in KBS. Wayne
  5. Something does not make sense to me, "WIDER THAN TALL" so the size will be, so you are saying that a 4" lure high should be 6" wide better explain better to me I am missing something. At first I was looking at the length (7" long X 9" wide) help me. Wayne
  6. Maybe I will try that on a smaller bait. Wayne
  7. So I should try for 10' to 20' for trolling, I can do that, of course it depends on how much line out. My 9" lure with 25' out 7' deep with 50' out 13' deep 75' out 18' deep 100' out 22' deep, at 3.5 mph, so my lip angle is in the area I want. That is with Cedar, and with Maple a few feet deeper. If this works for me I will switch to a resin bait or it just might be better in Cedar some guys just like wood. I am changing my style of my three baits to a narrower bait, something I have wanted to do since I started making this lure, I hope to get a tighter wobble, as always my method is trial and error, till I get want I want. TEST...TEST..TEST. Thanks Guys Wayne
  8. starting to make a 14" trolling lure what sizes do you guys prefer, and depth. Wayne
  9. Like most of us start carving and put your brain to work and make it, then we could talk about it. Wayne
  10. I use one for priming my musky lures, Bought the small one (4oz) from harbor freight, works for me on larger lures and faster. Wayne
  11. I mean wire baits. Wayne
  12. Go to the wire bending forum, better shot at a better answer. Wayne
  13. Dave While you are at it I also can use your calculator I am making a 12" lure. wayneprange@yahoo.com
  14. And I would say safer dipping than spraying. Although caution should me done either way. Wayne
  15. When I dip KBS I blow out the hook hangers with a airbrush, if they fill I blow them till they stop filling drip drying is the way I do it. Wayne
  16. Simple for me Etex for the larger type 6" plus and KBS for the smaller ones, I don't bother trying any other I settled on these two and I don't have all kinds of issues going from one top coat to another. This is what I work with and with good results, it seems that we always try to find the best top coat and spend a lot of money chasing a top coat we just have to learn to work with what works best for us. I am sure that the manufactures work with one type that they found to work best. Something quick and easy. Wane
  17. I think I will stick to stainless steel, way too much for me. Wayne
  18. Here's what I think, I was thinking of getting into pouring plastics but since I really don't need a lot I can adjust my lure making to accept the baits and tails too ones already made. So I don't need to invest in molds and all the plastics needed. I can find what I need and maybe if it comes to a special bait, I can find one of you guys to pour for me with a mold that I will have had made. By the time I invest in what is needed I could have one of you pros do it for me, and in the end a little cheaper and faster in the long run, but it looks like fun anyways. Wayne
  19. Pretty sure that this is want you want it comes in a roll Metallic Mesh Silver Darice , inc. try ebay Wayne
  20. If you look at smooth on 30 check out Dick Blicks you might get it cheaper there Wayne
  21. Maybe the top 3 in each category picked by the judges should be voted on by the advanced members on a winner. Wayne
  22. I have a sample of tube and caps on the way will see how it go's, from Uline Wayne
  23. This is for the old timers, does anyone remember a book company that had instructions for making all sorts of machinery I thing that it started with a Guiness or something I had several books or booklets. It had in it how to make a blister machine, this is as a last shot. Wayne
  24. Need something clear for retail, but I like the one Badhatharry that will be good for shipping from home but clear for retail is pretty pricy when you get into the bigger sizes. 12" and up. So far the cheapest is a plastic bag with card on top or a simple blister with card, most become custom that means having a mold made. But thanks I just might have to either adjust the size of the lure or maybe make my own blister which I know there are some homemade blister makers on you tube, hope I don't burn down the house but then!!!!!!!!!!!
