  1. I thought we were talking about hook rash which is a topcoat issue.
  2. For the last couple of months I have been using Etex and although it will still get hook rash it is not as bad as D2T.
  3. This will not help your problem but I have had the same problem on 3 different Rapala Xrap baits. The weight transfer would stick so I don't own any more.
  4. Any compressor will work. The setup will depend on what kind of paint you are spraying with. A moisture trap is standard for airbrushing but depending on what your spraying and the location of your air compressor you might need other accessories on your compressor like an air dryer for example. If you are using water based paints the setup is minimal. It is preference but I feel the compressors for airbrushing are not big enough and over priced. I use a simple 3 gallon oiless compressor that costs under $100. It is loud but works great and I don't have to worry about any oil intrusion if the compressor gets leaned over to far or if you over fill the oil tank. Everybody that buys a cheap airbrush to start with turns right back around and buys a good one, so just start with a good one and save yourself some time and money.
  5. Thanks guys. They are alot of work but well worth it in the end.
  6. I made some improvements after testing the original version. Although each one is hand carved the joints are routered which makes for a more cleaner and stronger joint. The original swam great so all the improvements were for a more durable bait. I think this bait will hold up to any bass and all the pike and muskies we have here. These are all hand carved from PVC.
  7. That is the wonder of this site. You get to research what you are about to do and know almost all of the problems before you ever start. In other words this site allows you to figure out the problems before you ever actually have to have them.
  8. Thanks guys. It saves me alot of money so I figured I would share.
  9. For those that have swimbaits or big baits in general this is a cheap and easy way to make a box for your baits so you don't have to buy a specialty tackle box or carrier. These boxes work well for any bait but they shine for swimbaits with soft fins. 1) I use insulation board from Lowes. It costs $18 for a 4 x 8 sheet. Get whatever thickness works for your baits, I use 1". Be mindful if you use a different type of foam board as some I have tried scratched my finish. This stuff is perfect. 2) Cut out a piece of the insulation board. Utility knife works fine. Then trace your bait on to the boards. The square I drew underneath the bait is for the hooks. You will be making two boards because the bait will be sandwiched inbetween, so make sure you reverse the image on one side. 3) I then use a deburring drill bit on my drill press to router out the shape of the bait. You can use a hand drill if you don't have a drill press. Deburring drill bits can get expensive but you only need a cheap one because it cuts the foam board like butter. I takes longer to draw out your shape then it does to cut it out. This is what I use. This is the insulation board after I cut out my shapes. This is the insulation board with a bait laid in the cutout. 4) Once you have sandwiched your bait inbetween the 2 boards then simply use rubber bands or velcro to keep it all together. This box is really tuff. I can throw the bait out of the window in a moving car and the bait would be ok. No need to buy expensive tackle boxes or carriers, you can stick these in boxes, bags, bins, etc. You will also not get hook rash when they are being transported. Last but not least, the box will float even the heaviest of baits.
  10. I only use forstner bits just don't buy the cheap ones. I have some cheap ones and they will turn a good day into a bad one real quick.
  11. The bait looks great. I am glad it worked out and you didn't have to spend a couple hundred to get it.
  12. I set my whole workshop up so that everything is done standing. I do have a bar stool that fits under all of my work tops but I don't use it. To many failed back surgeries makes it very painful to sit. I am sorry to hear about your back Mark.
  13. This may help you a little. http://www.tackletour.com/autopsyromanmademother.html
  14. Just use a box cutter or utility knife.
  15. I don't need one because I treat my email like my phone #, social security #, etc.
  16. I agree with Bob. You will have to show me what you have before I give up my email. They don't even tell you what they are going to do with your email before you give it to them. You might be signing up for an E-mag and 1000 other things.
  17. Forgot to mention, these are hand carved PVC.
