  1. I can bring mine too. I don't have a tripod though....unless I count
  2. Razorworm, thanks for doing what you're doing. I can't thank you enough. Hopefully we will see you next year. As for the rest of the gang, Nathan, count me in. My schedule for this year is no longer bound by the constraints of a girlfriend. I'm free to do whatever! Should I bring my boat?
  3. I lost a really nice baitcasting rig last year in Gardner Lake just east of where I live. I caught a small bass and set my rod down on the front of my boat so I could get the scale and weigh this little fish. She was maybe 2 lbs at max, just a little thing. I threw her back in, turned around to grab my rig and it was gone! Somehow I had thrown it overboard and not even heard the splash. I noted the area and left for the day. I went and bought some aluminum stock and some of those metal stringers. I made a triangle shaped rod retriever with the aluminum stock as a base, holes drilled in either end, and the metal stringers attached at the holes and then together. I unsprung the clasps, tied a rope on, and started dragging the bottom. It took about 10 minutes for me to retrieve my rig that next day. After a clean and rebuild at home the baitcaster works better now that it did before
  4. Nah! I've actually been bummed I haven't finished my last batch of baits. I went to all the trouble of getting every last little supply I would need and then life caught up. I had to sink money into my house, truck, and boat. Then I was out of town for almost 2 weeks. I'm just now getting 'normalized' again. Hopefully I'll get these cranks done and some pictures up soon!
  5. Just in case anybody was wondering... It's been a rough last few months. I'm glad to actually have time to kill again!
  6. Man, hearing all these stories about things that happened after I left makes me regret not going for a second day! Phil, I'm glad you got to stop by Bass Pro. They opened one in Olathe, about 25 mins from my house, and I've never quite been the same since...as if you couldn't have known by all the BPS clothing I was showing off at the meet. Maybe next year I'll drag my bass boat down and a few of us can hit Truman Lake.
  7. Looks good! Was the pike painted first with an airbrush and then by paintbrush? The spots around the gills look hand-painted.
  8. Repaints I take it? They look good to me. Just keep at it. I bought a cheapie airbrush to start with and soon found I had outgrown it. I'm sure with more practice you'll feel the same way. Keep up the good work and don't be afraid to try something new!
  9. It was tacky in most places, not all. I think you're right in it being a mixing issue. Next time I'll pay extra attention to mixing. Also, I thought about adding my own scale with a marker onto the epoxy tubes so I can more accurately measure the epoxy parts. I'm really hoping to not hose up another lure in the future due to a bad ratio!
  10. Thanks for the tips guys. I went ahead and thinned some D2T with denatured alcohol and painted on another coat. It's actually looking pretty good. It seems to take a bit longer to set when thinned (maybe I thinned too much), but it's coming along. I'll post back later and let everyone know how it turned out. Gotta love this trial and error stuff. Thanks again!
  11. Good point on the stir stick. Come to think of it, I don't remember removing it. Maybe I did? I'll check when I get home. I think I'll stop by Wally World on my way home tonight and grab some denatured alcohol and cut the 2nd coat. I will call Devcon tomorrow and ask them about the 2Ton. Thanks for the compliment Jerry and thanks for putting this out here for everyone. It's been an invaluable tool for me. And Gene? Yeah, I could have spent another day learning from him....
  12. Thanks for the input. I'll throw another coat on tonight when I get home. Maybe it will be done in the morning. In the meantime I'll use all my D 2T and try some Etex. Thanks.
  13. Here's my first fish of the season! Nice 3 pounder....
  14. I'll try that. It's not like I have anything to lose. Does anyone happen to know, just for futures' sake, if the yellow or clear in the Devcon tube is the hardener? In the future, I would rather mix more hardener than resin.
