heres a fish that was caught on one of Diemai's spoon this morning, he weighs in at a total of 6lbs and is 23 inches long. Caught him while the lake was still partly frozen, not much of a fight but a personal best for me. Thanks Diemai!
  2. id hit that... if i was a fish
  3. Those look great Dieter! I wouldnt mind tossing those around the docks once spring comes in!
  4. Best clear coats that i have discovered are just plain old devcon 2 ton. Its easy to use and it comes out looking great! I also like to use crystal sheen.... its the same as e-tex. Only draw back to using the crystal sheen is that you have to get the amounts of the A and B just right or you get a fouled clear and ruin the bait. Goodluck, Jacob

I used a CAD program called autodesk inventor. So i would first draw the outline of the lure that i wanted to make, then add work planes at every 1/16th of an inch of the outline and trim to the size of the lure. Then i would draw an ellipse on each work plane and loft them all together.

thats odd... couldnt find the area to add the description. Well i havent posted here in a while, i have mainly been working on the computer making lures and finally figured out how to do it. Doesnt take to much work but it took me a long time to figure out how to do it haha thanks for looking, Jacob

  13. I would go with what Hugesy said and also you can maybe shave the width of your bait down a lil bit. Then next option is to make your lip a lil wider than the width of your lure. With most all the lures ive done ive always had a good wobble with a lip wider than the lure. Goodluck, Jacob
  14. If the lure is big free handing the stripes would great and IMO the free hand stripes look much more natural than using a stencil.
  15. Thanks guys! If it wasnt for this forum i doubt i would be where i am now at lure building. This site is full of great and helpful people, once again thank you very much haha Dieter my fingers have been clear of the bandsaw This school year has been quite busy with school work so i have just been painting blanks lately, but thanks to Dave i have been figuring out how to make lure on CADD. Its been quite fun Once again thanks for this great site and all the wonderful people on it that will help kids out like me and dont mind sharing some of their secrets to! Hopefully one day ill be able to whip out some great lures that i see on this everyday. Thanks, Jacob

    CADD Crankbait

When you made the lure on CADD you could make air pockets and fill them with foam. Well cost of this lure to print was around 20 dollars due to the large size but a normal size crankbait.... around 2 inches long would be about 5 or more dollars.

    CADD Crankbait

haha i dont know if there is a fast setting on that machine. I dont think it was expensive enough for that
  18. I would have to agree with Skeeter on this one, most crankbaits ive made the closer to the nose of the bait the line tie is the better action you will get.

    CADD Crankbait

Hey guys, Thanks for all the kind words, much appreciated The lure is made out of a ABS plastic that is printed layer by layer. The way that the printer works is that there is a clip of plastic and it is melted inside the chamber that lays down each line of plastic. Each line of plastic is about 1mm thick. The total time it took for the printer to print the lure was 4 hours. Like Dave said this wouldnt be a very good way to make lures for mass production but for molds it would be great! Thanks, Jacob

    CADD Crankbait

Here is something that I have been working on at school for the past month now. It is a crankbait that I designed in Autodesk Inventor. I got to print it out in the schools 3-D printer. I made the lure to be in separate pieces so i can add ballast weight or rattles. I also made the lure in multiple pieces because the program would not let me make in one piece... computer programs sure can be a PITA The lure is a little over 5 inches and i made it more as a prototype to see if i could even do it Vodkaman helped me out on the making of the lure, that guy is a genius! Thanks for looking Jacob
