  2. I started a thread about tapping a can of Dick Nite and Ben posted a picture. I did it last night and worked like a charm
  3. Thanks RayburnGuyYou always come through for me!
  4. Thanks . I think I'm on the right path . Feels good for a change.....
  5. SO I finally used my last can up. and I'm set to receive a new one Monday . I'm wondering if anyone has a picture of a tapped can? Having a hard time visualizing that. My last batch i transferred to a canning jar with a lid and used Bloxegon on top. I only paint in winter and was able to get one year out of my last can before it went bad. Not sure if thats good or not. My last dipping session put the final hurt on it. Does dipping cause the hurt? Being im a part time painter I should find a different top coat but it works for me so well I hate to change . Does auto clear have the same challenges ? Thanks in advance
  6. Can I thin this stuff (zylene) and airbrush on my Walleye blades?
  7. They dont make ball bearing swivels
  8. Does anyone have a source for quality ball bearing swivels and cross lock snaps in bulk? Want to stay with USA product if I can but im not opposed to buying overseas if someone has experience with a quality vendor. From experience I know not everything over there is junk ,just have to find the right vendor. Thank you
  9. Up for sale are my spin cast molds for Ice fishing Jigs. They are Marmooska size 10 , Marmooska size 12 , ant jig size 10 and Mouise jig size 12. Excellent shape. They are at my manufacturer , Can arrange shipping or have them continue to manufacture your jigs . Just heading in a different direction. Research spin casting before responding. These are not beginner molds or hand pours. $1200.00 for ALL MOLDS . Will not separate...PayPal only. Questions can be sent to walleyemagic@aol.com These are nine inch molds
  10. I'd like to check back in and let you know my progress and what all went wrong and what went right. The good news is I got it down to a science now with the help of you all. The biggest culprit for me was not letting my paint dry enough between coats. I also switched my clear to Dick Nite. I was too eager to get to step number 7 with out doing 2-6 properly . I will tell you as you can see from my last post it didn't happen over night. LOts of testing but a BIG thanks to all who responded here and helped me win... for now... I know its only one victory but a guy can celebrate right?
  11. Wow , Checking back in and lots of progress. I stopped using the krylon and that has stopped my issue for what ever the reason. I thought about baking soda and lime juice etching mix as well. Still messing with things but I think I got it .
  12. Thanks Ben, Gets more interesting all the time!
  13. The hammered blades are hard to sand and I think the pockets are collecting paint that does not dry underneath. I think if I hit the back of the blade with the heat gun that might help.
  14. Sitting here thinking, I usually have problems with the white. I don't thin it like I should and Its probably not fully dried. I will keep you guys posted , Thanks for all the help. TU is always a great source with lots of knowledgeable members
  15. Ben, is a self etching primer considered a adhesion promoter? And would a guy heat that or should i let that stuff do its job naturally ? Thanks for your help , I'm glad you tuned in Ben, Your a great source of information and experience .
  16. I thought that too, I know a bunch of people doing it this way. I tend to paint too thick and I'm almost off to the basement to give it another whirl today.
  17. Im almost starting to think i'm rushing and not heat setting completely or sometimes not at all .I seem to want to rush it... I'll try again tomorrow....
  18. Self etching primer? But thats isn't why my paint is wrinkling
  19. I am painting # 5 and # 6 Colorado spinner blades (chrome, copper, brass). I wipe them down before I spray. I'm using createx paint. I use the createx white for a base layer and use a variety of other colors as well. I'm top coating with krylon Clear coat . Some times the paint will wrinkle after I use the clear coat , other times it does not. I'm thinking this white is not playing nice with the others. Eventually I'm going to be spray coating with Component system seal coat. I have played around with the self etching primer the same fail when I use the white. Frustrated , disappointed and irritated if thats all possible . Any help? I've read about every forum that exists and short of lighting the whole batch on fire ,here i sit!
  20. If your new to airbrushing buy a quality one. NOTHING more frustrating than an airbrush that needs to be babied when you are learning the trade. I bought a few of those china models and nothing but trouble after a bit. Good luck!
  21. I find myself using it less and less because its a pain to get around on the site. Its too bad, I used to reference this site 3-4 times a day....
  22. Great post... Trying and failing is sometime the best explanation you can get, Its not about paying your dues .Its obvious when someone has done their homework and then asks questions as opposed to asking," whats the best or cheapest or fastest". , but things are hard to explain if your not in a guys shop. Its difficult to help those who are not able to help themselves
  23. If I thought about the money aspect of this lure building thing I would have quit long ago. We don't do it to save money, its a hobby and most hobbies get expensive. You can buy 10 of any store bought baits WAY cheaper than you can construct one from scratch . Just sayin .......
  24. Mr.NsmithLike the rest of us , try -fail try -fail try -fail try -fail - try -- BINGO . You need to do some research and give some things a whirl . Just because it works for me doesn't mean it will work for you. 80 percent of this stuff is trail and error . Sorry, You can't skip that part of the lure building process . Its like asking what the fish are biting on. My answer will always be "All depends"
