  1. Calls for the Gama 604 hook bit looking at other quality yetless expensive options. See the Eagle Claw L3052 gets good reviews. What about VMC? Others?
  2. good to know. there are no smells or fumes. I just assumed there would be??? thank you for the info and insight. nice to know I dont have another job on the to do list
  3. broke a BPS carbonlite on a hookset. out of warranty. I was toying with stripping the components, getting a blank and trying to build another rod. I tried one years ago as I had a blank given to me. Needless to say it was a damn ugly rod. I have mucho respect for rod builders. that said, the rod is still in service after several years. Anybody have any thoughts on this. I am not looking for a super high end rod, just something that is good for the money that would be a decent bass rod. What issues will I have with reel seat fitting if I wanted say a Heavy action rod? Looking for advice and ideas for discussion/????? thanks all.
  4. I am looking for ideas and simple options for a decent way to vent my lead when pouring. I currently have my pot setup in the basement on a workbench with a basement window open above me and a fan running. I am sure my futile attempts are insufficient, and am toying with fixing up a better setup to possibly exhaust fan out the window??? Interested to hear/see what you all have.
  5. I don't go through hardly any so it has been a few years, but when I bought I just bought on ebay
  6. how do you keep the plastic bait from sliding down the hook?
  7. well due to the line tie, that would make a regular ewg sit sideways. it needs to have an vertical line tie, I don't know any ewg worm hooks that are like that.
  8. I do it all the time with my fastach swing jigs. very nice to keep same weight and downsize bait/ hook. minimizes the amount of jigs you need. can use bigger hooks or different styles based on baits. plenty of reasons to have the ability to switch hooks. I just don't want to pay for the fastach. I pour my own and want to figure out a way to have that ability with the do it mold
  9. I was thinking a hook like this. I now use an EWG without split ring but that defeats the purpose of being able to change out hooks.
  10. I really like the fastach style swing jigs. thinking of pouring them without the hook and using a spit ring to attach the hook. due to the hook angle I am thinking of using swimbait style hooks with a hitch hiker to attach the bait. thoughts?
  11. my question is, why would this head be better than the football shaped original swing jigs? Isn't that one of the better traits, to create more bottom contact thus more action?
  12. The Gama 684 is the same as the Mustad Special bend. Mustad's version is less expensive.
  13. thanks smalljaw. The special bend is small in length and gap. wire diameter is good. I will look into the hools you mentioned for sure. Not sold on the special bend hook, just a hook I thought would be a good option. Found I would like it to be bigger.
  14. I am looking for an extra wide gap option to fit the mold for bulky plastics. Not wanting a straight shank hook. The special bend 6/0 is much smaller than a 6/0 worm hook. or 6/0 straight shank hook.
