  1. looking for some different techniques for stabilizing bait joints while painting. I've used cotter pins on some but having issue with the plastic joints on the king shad by strike king. Also how do you protect this area during the clear coating procedure. I spray my coat so any ideas on that would be great.
  2. Anyone have an idea of a good clear to seal baits then be able to use water base paint over top.
  3. i use a 6v ( battery operated) dremel tool fitted with a abrasive wheel not the sanding wheel. ( have to check what it is called) but this makes quick work of scuffing the old paint finish. If it needs completely removed I soak overnight in super purple ( its found in automotive section at walmart) this does great job on most baits and doesnt hurt the lure. I only do latter if baits paint is chipped badly. then prime with createx white.
  4. Hooks USA is a good place to get the vmc hooks. I like the cone cut black nickel short shank hook, very sharp great for resale baits.
  5. Thanks Rayburn guy, just what i needed.
  6. Ok so maybe im the last to know but cant find any info on cracking paint. Anyone willing to enlighten me on who makes it or where to get. Thanks
  7. So how about the crack paint. Hows this work? I shoot createx and havent seen ads for it.
  8. Great deal from bustin bass. Im looking for a manufacture where i can get great deals on some quanity. Any ideas?
  9. Anyone go good mix ratio for a watermealon color using createx ? Wanting to do a watermelon red craw pattern.
  10. I didnt make the rules to this swap just willing to participate. But seems others arent aware or choose not to. I wouldnt care but again i didnt create the hard bait swap rules. Looks as if they done other typoes of lures as well. I just paint cranks.
  11. Tried several of these cookbooks as you call them and really like them. But no one has posted any new ones in quite some time. why so tight lipped. Ill post a blue gill color ive done real well on tonight. One ive had a hard time with is a bar fish anyone tried this one. looks something like a white bass. bigtime forage fish on southern lakes like lake fork.Any ideas please post.
  12. Get as good brush with 2 or 3 mm tip. I use master g44 this may not be good to some but works for me. Braided hose, inline air filter/ water trap, compressor if you dont have one. createx paints in opaque colors white black red blue ect. A good range of transpaent( green, red , blue, yellow, purple, silver , gold, orange, torquiose) and pearl colors, iridesent colors.Your colors really depend on what all you paln on painting. Shad colors , blue gills, crawfish or all. i use 2 ton epoxy ( 30min) for the top coat. Cheap paint brushes for the epoxy. (Cleaning kit). simple green, windex, some small brushes from airbrush supplier. frisket paper for stencils or milk jugs work. exacto knife. candy makers foil( silver, gold) 3m spray glue. An understanding wife because it takes some time on the bench to learn how to use the brush with the paints( thining ect)
  13. come on crank painters. I read tons of post on here of guys starting out and the more experenced guys as well. what im saying is to me its not about how good or bad you are let just have some fun looking at each others work. hell if you dont like the baits you get repaint them. im very far away from being one of the best ive seen on this forum but i like painting and think that most guys that would recieve them would use them. I have a blue gill pattern im catching alot of fish on. lets share our work. i have no secrets but then again i dont sell mine i use them. so my last shout out. Need 10 painters ( newbies or oldies) that want to swap some baits.
  14. Dont use the insulation as disc as stated above. I used tru-foam from walmart in the fabric dept. Its a foam used in making cushions i believe. Works great holds baits in place using the baits lips or a nail inserted into aligator clips to use on your lipless or stick baits. I posted pics of my on an eairlier post. The insulation sucks over time.
