  1. Yes lead accumulates and it contaminates all areas once you start using grinding, sanding carving handling and melting it. Just because you don't see it (dust, fumes, particles) doesn't mean it's not there. That's the main reason why I am not risking my health or would never risk exposing anyone else to the toxicity of pouring lead. For me personally the risk outweight the benefits of pouring lead.
  2. Lead Pouring: Undecided? Ok here I go , Yes there are many who work with lead. And many items are made out of lead. As a fisherman I totally understand we all want to save money on all the tools (tackle, our own, borrow, want, buy, make. I too have purchased many items I call it my addiction an obsession. I'm always interested ,willing to learn something new about this sport. For the longest time I have been on the fence regarding working with lead especially casting lead lures, weights. I even have spent hours designing items in my head about what I could make. Then this hits me The more I read about lead and it's toxic properties the more I don't want to go there. I think and weight out the pros vs cons. I not trying to bash anyone or anything here. I just am trying to understand if we know the danger why do we choose to go there. I feel since it has taken me a long time to decide I don't think, or see pouring lead would be one of the things that I would want to work with or try. I guess I have answered my own question. Even though it looks like alot of fun to be able to make, create, save money, make money there really is nothing safe about pouring lead. Again This is my opinion and I'm in no way trying to disrupt, discourage anyone from doing whatever works for you.
  3. I presented this question not that long ago about a year ago well i had numerous bubbles they would suddenly appear when i would heat it up and and mix the plastisol.i purchased there plastisol last year when it was on sale when I purchased a 2 1/2 gallon when I would heat the plastisol in the microwave outside clear sunny day no humidity or any other environmental causes nothing to do with temp or any other outside factors played a part. It was a bad batch they sold me this open discussion went on for several pages and numerous members replied tried helping me to correct this problem that I had. I still have that batch they replaced and sent me another one for free. I made sure everyone I poured it into the Pyrex cup I shook and mixed it up for over 2 minutes so it couldn't be that I failed to mix it properly. I think you need to get in touch with bears so they can either refund your money or replace you with another batch. Good luck

  10. Wow what a mess This post has become I really dont know how we all ended up with members totally off subject Members even remembering the original simple question .I was only asking and looking for advice and a solution thats all! To what I had ordered and was looking for answers to resolve the numerous bubbles that would develop as I would heat up the plastisol and mix it.Again I was not bashing or endorsing any company. Just stating a problem and looking for answers. I would like to say to members respectfully no matter what lets stay on the Questions and not open a can of worms. To make story short the Manufacturer had a bad batch unfortunately that happens. There going to replace it. End of topic Thanks.
  11. Respectfully Just wanted to make it clear members. That im not bashing or endorsing any company. Im just stating the facts my problem that im having with this product & im just Looking for recommendations & advice. Thanks for your understanding.
  12. I think you should first test different products that you can get on a piece of plaster of paris. Try products used for sealing and that are strong & can withstand 350 degree heat .I Use 2 part clear epoxy resin the kind that you mix together. You can get it on ebay.
  13. Yes it is Bears Baits (Calhouns)Med Plastisol 2.5 gallon that was on sale $ 130 down the drain! I will try another method by using a portable gas stove to heat it up if this doesn't work and I still have the same outcome then I will get in touch with them again to see what they can do to fix this problem. Thanks members I reallly apperciate your advice, Suggestions and support
  14. Here we go again I don't mean to sound like im MR (Mentally RET) you know what I mean. Today again I got out the big plastic container 2.5 gallon of plastisol Med and i shook it up vigrously and upside down continuously mixed it for 5 minutes while cap closed. Open it up and poured out a cup full I still continued mixing as I Started heating it up and same problem.Well I have taken everyone's advice and still have micro bubbles when I heat it up and mix the plastisol I have even got in touch with the manufacturer regarding this problem they also suggest to really mix the plastisol I have pictures of the different stages when this problem is occurring but Im not permitted to post the pictures. This is very very fustrating.the baits keep comming out (Just like several members said) really sticky and very soft I added glitter and later some color but still baits are like soft and sticky. so how long must I mix this plastisol? In the past I have used other types of plastisol and have never have had this problem I did not add any salt or the weather here is around 80 degrees. Maybe this batch that I was given is bad I don't know what else to try. Sorry WTF !!!Got my hands up in the air i did not use an injector im doing open pour into aluminium molds.I used a metal screwdriver as my mixing tool..At this point im open to any suggestions very frustrated! 18. Micro bubbles from stirring it up I think you may have found the solution to this unexplained phenomena & Thanks members for your input Im opened pouring into 2 piece aluminum mold not injecting but will give your suggestions a try!
  19. You should start off make your swimbait out with sculpy oven baked clay sand it then primer It then use plaster of Paris for the mold which is cheap till you get better practice, practice and then move up to RTV cause it does cost alot more.I've made several baits the same way there's a lot to learn but once you get started its addicting to see your own swimbait develop before your eyes oh yes it can be expensive. Injectors aluminum molds, Glitter, Rtv blending blocks ect. Go. On to youtube there's so much and so many ideas to bounce off of. Have fun!
  20. Well I am really trying not to get frustrated by this I recently posted this question to the forum regarding this problem that I was having I thought it was because I was melting down old soft baits but this is confusing? I opened new gallon of med plastisol.that I recently purchase and I poured out about a cup full I did not mix the gallon before I poured. It into the Pyrex cup.I placed pyrex into cup in microwave I gradually heated it up so it went from milk to clear then I started to mix it up I had not put anything into the melted plastisol I was using wooden chopsticks to mix it with then all these bubbles appeared as I was mixing and the baits were really soft and this formula is med maybe im not mixing it up or heating it up enough its consistency when I pour is like syrup. I then switched to using a metal screwdriver to mix the plastic heated it up and still many bubbles. WTF! need your help and advice please keep on the subject that I am discussing. Thanks
