You could also use a hard straw for reusable water bottles. Not the cheapest straws but are more rigid and give you more rattle. The added diameter might cause a problem though for smaller baits. Just a thought. Jared

Frog that will work but you'll have more trial and error with that. I think they were referring to taking some of that out for repeatability. Now as a beginner I'm doing exactly what you are doing and that can be most the fun and frustration for me at least. I'm a stay at home dad and work nights so my time to work on lures is slim so I appreciate the info about taking specs. It will definitely help so thanks guys for the great info! Another option is the attachments that the banjo minnow has. I love that bait by the way most successful bait I've had for bass. Plus they come in different sizes. Similar to hitch hikers but better in my opinion. Here's a link https://www.banjominnowstore.com/Store/c-9-cork-screws.aspx

You could also just use a small stainless screw. Drill a hole, then cut the head off and screw it in reverse if you want a sharp end or regular if you want the cut off blunt end out. I would still glue it though.

I've just gotten into musky fishing this year due to a buddy introducing me to it. I've only had a follow but man am I addicted. Started making my own lures as a result of the cost and of course love it. Only gotten a few spinners done so far but having guys like you as help is great. Thanks for the laugh!

Did you try to pop it after you cast. I've had buck tails that needed to be jerked like I had a strike after hitting the water and the blades would spin freely after the initial jerk. Just an idea.

I know that sharks and other salt water predators have sensors for picking up magnetic fields of prey but i dont know of that being the case for freshwater species. The article didn't really state how it worked but it said the guy who was making the magnetized flys said he was catching more fish. The article is a little dated. I have a kind of strange question but I saw magnetic beads for sale and did a search on the field and stream site and saw some info on the possibility of that working in the fishermans favor. I make musky and pike spinners mainly and that would be an easy addition. Has anyone heard of this or tried it?

My name is Jared Sievert and I'm 31 years old. I live in Zeeland Michigan and have really just started to make my own baits. I've gotten decent at making musky and pike spinners which was the reason I started making my own baits due to the cost of the professional ones. I have a few blanks that I've carved but dreading painting them because I have never done it and don't want to make them look terrible. I joined tackleunderground a couple of weeks ago and have learned so much! I have added some info to posts so far but don't really have much knowledge to give yet.
