  1. You can also modify almost any spinner bait mold to accept Do-It's wire keeper used in some of their jig molds. This wire keeper. I would use the longer wire keeper as it would be placed deeper in the spinner bait head and be more stable. http://store.do-itmolds.com/Wire-Keeper-Form-WB800_p_483.html
  2. Unfortunatly I think this is almost impossible. Almost every hook has some difference. Even if you could get a chart made you have to remember that each and every type of mold has subtle differences. Take the EC 570 hook for instance. I know of many molds that call for this hook but if you try the Mustad equivalent it will not work properly. It would be great if this could be done but you have to remember to take into the account the mold in which the hook is being used. This is why I try multiple different hooks in each mold to make sure they fit. Even though a hook looks the same they rarely are. Not trying to be a Debbie Downer but I just can't see this working.
  3. If I were trying to make these in a 1oz size I would use the Do-It SJ-3-BL bullet spinner bait mold(model # 3226). This mold has a 1oz and a 1 1/8oz cavity in it. Not the 1 1/2 you are looking for but better than nothing. Modify the mold so you don;t use the hook and the pull wire goes all of the way through. JB
  4. I use this one also. It works great if you don't mind having to bend the wire yourself. On a side note you get to do the direct connect to the head if you use it.
  5. Also...please note that the steel eye I used in the picture was an extra long eye not a regular length eye.
  6. It will be very difficult to add any length as most hooks will not be big enough to add any real length. You can however use a stainless steel eye and then cut the eye of the hook off and place it at the desired length in the mold. I am not sure it would be worth the work though. You would have to cut the eye off as close to the eye as possible so the hook will not be loose or pull out. You will also risk the hook spinning around in the mold before you actually mold the head. I can't guarantee this would work but it is an option.
  7. Looks like purple antifreeze is just transparent candy purple with glitter sprinkled on one side. http://www.domkaoutdoorscustoms.com/category-s/110.htm
  8. Cut up one of the Teflon pins and tape it in place or superglue it in place.
  9. At one point Battlefield tried to stamp them out of aluminum but when they tested them the hole where the blade connected to the head wore out too fast so they used stainless steel.
  10. You can't buy the coffin shaped ones because one of Z-Mans patents covers the coffin shape of the blade.
  11. Yep... there is currently only one company stamping chatter blades for making your own baits. I have actually started using a spinner bait mold for making chatter baits. I use a straight wire shaft and then trim it so I can make the snap bend that smalljaw makes on his spinner baits. Then I just snap on the chatter blade. I prefer the Do It Ultra Minnow mold. Here is a link to his . smalljaw makes it look easy but the first ones I bent came out looking like crap.JB
  12. It loos like it still has a bit of a small lead on the hook for the skirt collar. You would have to find a way to mold that in place.
  13. It depends on which Ultra Minnow mold you get. For the mold with 1/4oz, 3/8oz and 1/2oz. you will need 0.035 for the 1/4 and 0.040 or 0.041 for the other 2 sizes. For the mold with 5/8oz, 3/4oz, and 1oz you will need 0.040 or 0.041 for all of the cavities.
  14. Thanks for the info cadman. This is what I am going to try next time...seems alot easier than what I was doing. Fortunately I only poured 3 heads to test an idea. Thks.
  15. This is funny because I poured up some of these last night with a .035 in the 1/2oz. cavity. It fits and works. I had no flashing around the wire because the wire is at the top of the cavity. I did have to tape the hook in place to keep the wire from sliding down to the bottom of the cavity though.
  16. To fix this weekends problems they reset the website back to about Friday so anything posted after the reset date was erased.
  17. I was going there but Fatman beat me to the punch. But since you asked here are some that will fit. Weather they will work without lead going where it should not is another question. None of these hooks sits perfectly but the mold did close when they were in the mold. Sohumi 103 will fit. It does not come in a size 10 but the size 8 will fit in the cavity that calls for a size 10. Eagle Claw 570 will fit. Mustad 32756 will fit. It does not come in a size 10 and the size 8 will not fit in the cavity that calls for a size 10. Again, this mold was not designed for these hook so your end result may not be what you want. Some of the hooks slipped out of place while I was taking the pics below.
  18. The company that was making those for us went out of business. Your best bet is to buy the straight wires with a snap and then bend your own loop. I know this is pain but it is what you will probably have do. JBarlow
  19. You are very welcome!! LOL...don't let that stop her!
  20. Nope. It fits just fine without modifying the mold. You can actually go up to about a 0.023. I didn't measure it but there is a lot of room there.
  21. An 0.018 dia wire. I cut it and then put a 90 degree bend in one end so it will not fall out of the head.
  22. Something else to think about. I don't use the Do It wacky wire. I cut and bend my own. I find the Do It wire to be way too lite. I was using 2 or 3 of the Do It wires in each head but that ended up being a mess of wires once they got bent. With my stiffer I get hung up way less often.
  23. That I do not know...never used Jackalls.
