  1. I have done this and it seems to work fine. You just have to make sure you get a head with the eye turned the correct way or you will have to use 2 split rings.
  2. This is a good idea. Next time I build a few buzz baits I am going to try this. I hate the weeds that get all twisted up on the front of the blade.
  3. Honest truth?? I would not use either mold. Knowing that you want to use a 3/0 Owner 5318 in the 1/8oz cavity I would use the CRJ-6-WBA and drill the eye out a little so the 3/0 would fit. The eye is only slightly too small. The reason is because I hate the lead barbs. I think they do a poor job keeping the plastic worm in place compared to the wire keeper. But if I had to choose between the 2 molds above I would pick the RHB-6-1816 because it is more on center and I believe it would do a better job. Also, you can pour multiple jigs at one time. The flashing under head is result of the mold not quite closing because of the eye being ever so slightly too big.
  4. The Gama 603 2/0 will fit the mold but the 3/0 will not. It sits crooked and has too big of a wire diameter. The Owner 5318 fits great in 2/0 and 3/0.
  5. Also...inside diameter or outside diameter? I am guessing inside diameter but who can tell for sure.
  6. I had this problem when I made my own stiffer wires for the wacky mold. I came up with 2 options. Either bend less of the wire so it would not hit the sides of the mold or bend more so it would rest on the shank of the hook keeping it from rotating. I chose to bend less and then put the bend far enough into the mold so if it did turn then it would not hit the side of the cavity.
  7. These hooks do not fit in the 1/8oz cavity in a 3/0. The Mustad shank from the eye to the bend was way too long. The Owner wire diameter was just a little too large...it is really close. If you squeezed the mold it will close on some of the hooks. Thanks for the positive feedback guys.
  8. Here is what I came up with. The 3/0 Gami 604 will fit in the 1/8oz cavity of the Do-It Gamakatsu Hook Mold #3388. If you are willing to do some slight modification it would also look nice in the Do-It models 1061 or 1242. You would only be able to pour 1/2 of the cavities in these mold because of how the hook sits though.
  9. You will definitely get a better selection of hooks with the eye turned the other way.
  10. The 5941 - 5/0 will not fit into the 3/8oz. The eye is too large. You will have to do some modification. The difference between the Trokar 825 and the 805 is the wire diameter.
  11. If you are looking for larger as in wire diameter then you should try the Gamakatsu 5941 for the 4/0 and 5/0's. This hook is slightly shorter in length but not much. I measured the TK805 4/0 at .059 and the 5/0 at .060. I measured the Gama 5941 4/0 at .061 and the 5/0 at .065. The TK 805 3/0 is a larger diameter than the Gama 5941.
  12. I use a Mustad 37180BLN in this mold. We used to sell them so I kept some when we quit selling them. It is only available in a size 1 but that fits in all of the cavities. You can get it at LPO. http://lurepartsonline.com/Online-Store/Mustad-Jig-Hooks/Mustad-37180BLN-Wacky-Jig-Hook-1.html

    Cadman

Like Cadman stated...putting candy purple over green pumpkin just turns it almost black. I played around with this a little bit and this is what I came up with. I took clear powder paint and added a small amount of candy purple to it. Then I painted a head green pumpkin and then dipped it into the clear purple. It did come out with a purple sheen on it but it is very difficult to see. I tried taking a picture of the head but you could not see the purple in it. Here is the shade of purple I cam up with though...not a great picture though. I think it is a nice shade. For anyone trying to lighten the shade of a color adding clear would do that.
  14. They are all different lengths and sizes.
  15. Tried the 630 3/0 and it fits in the mold. It is a little tight but it works.
  16. Sure we do...color 67. It is just not a good picture.
  17. The drop shot molds were not designed with barrel swivels in mind so they really do not fit. Why not just turn the drop shot swivel upside down? Here are a couple of pics of the finesse mold with the best fitting size in it. As you can see from the second pic the mold does not close completely. In the bottom pic you can see that the drop shot swivels fit in the mold fine upside down.
  18. You can use 2 split rings. I have done this and it seems to work fine.
  19. That is probably not going to work. The 604 7/0 is a much smaller hook and has a much smaller wire diameter. The mold has a post in the eye to hold the hook in place. The 604 eye will not fit around this post. This means you will have to remove the post. If you do this the hook will just fall out of position. Also, since the wire diameter is so much smaller you will have all sorts of lead leakage and flashing. In the picture the hook is sitting on top of the post in the eye. I do not have an 8/0 to try in the mold. You can also see how loose the hook fits in the mold.
  20. The 4/0 and 5/0 will fit in the 1/2 and 3/4oz cavities but they do not fit right. I was able to close the mold with these sizes in it but they do not sit straight...see picture below. The top picture is with them sitting in the cavities. The bottom is so you can see how much you would have to modify the mold to get them to fit in straight. Hope this helps some.
  21. Yes it will but the smallest size I have is a 1/0 so that is what I put in the 3/32, 1/8 & 3/16oz cavities. 2/0 in the others.
  22. The short answer is no it will not fit. The hook does not sit straight but your big problem is that the wire diameter is larger so the mold will not close. If you are into modifying molds then the wire diameter is not a problem. You will have to modify the eye slot because of the wire diameter. I do not thin you will have to modify the rest of the mold. I don't think you can modify the mold enough to get the hook to sit straight. I have attached a picture for you to see how the hooks sit in the mold. You can also see how the eye will not fit the mold.
