  1. I am in contact with him, his molds are incredible but very expensive.
  2. Jimmie7915 would you mind telling me your process of how you converted your wood blank to a resin? I make 6.5 and 8.5" wood swimbaits and am wanting to make the jump over to resin. Do I cut the wood blank into segments before I make my mold so that when i pour the resin, the bait is already segmented? I'm just confused on what the best process is and what materials I need.
  3. Hey guys I make 6.5" and 8.5" swimbaits made out of poplar wood and they have incredible action. However, I am debating on cutting down on the time of carving all of these out and switching to resin. I have no clue how to get started on this or what the best/optimal process is for converting my wood baits to resin. I dont know what resin I need, what mold making/silicone material I need. Should I cut the wood blank into segments before casting the mold and then piece it together after the resin one is cast? Or should I cut the resin into segments after it is cast? Can anyone give me a step by step process that works for them? Or maybe even a video? Thanks, Paden
  4. Right now I'm using the Fish Hair fiber. I will try the idea with tape and gluing the roots in and then shaping it once it's dry. I'm just worried my slot is a little too big and it won't be a tight enough fit with roots
  5. How durable are these tails? How long will glue hold the roots in place over the years?
  6. So trim the roots so the roots are no longer exposed? Then glue the taped portion into slot? I feel like you won't be able to remove the tape
  7. Doesn't really go into a lot of detail. So he puts the hair into the bait first? I can't seem to keep the hair together enough to stay in slot
  8. Hey guys, I am trying to make my own hair tails out of the FishHair synthetic hair. Right now it is a pretty difficult process as far as getting the hair to stay together at the base. I've tried super glue to keep it together at the base and then I will cut the tail into the shape I like. I am wondering if there is a more simple effective way to make swimbait tails out of this hair material. Let me know!
  9. Hey guys, I am going to start selling 6.5" and 8.5" swimbaits and am looking at what the best, most cost effective option is for packaging. I also want some sort of lure display card or something that shows the brand and name of the bait etc. What is the best way to go about this and are there certain websites that are the best? Thanks
  10. Thanks Mark, I make a 6.5 and 8.5 inch swimmer and am starting to sell them and I'm wondering what the best tails for them would be. I agree I think the soft plastic tails and maybe harden them up a bit will look the most lifelike.
  11. Hey guys, this is my first post. I am currently making custom wood swimbaits that are hand cut and hand sanded. I'm going back and forth on what material I should use for the tail. What is the most durable, cost effective, and easy way to construct a tail? Options I've considered are: hair, lexan (seems tough to cut), soft plastic, or a rubber. Wanted to hear your thoughts.
