  1. I have dead on white label in swimbait and worm types but my question is black label sink rate for senkos or trick worms. I am curious if a guy needs to add any salt at all with the black label.
  2. Thanks for the tip on the brass I was heading there tonight. I will check out Hobby Lobby instead an go from there!
  3. Awesome I looked up my local Menards and they have 1/8" brass rod in 3 ft. sections in stock for $3 a piece!
  4. I know in the past I have seen it on here or elsewhere but what type of rods do most use? I plan to get some different sizes for my ringworm and sinko molds but curious what type of material most prefer to use.
  5. I did a search on these after clicking on the sponsor link and they have me curious. How many guys here have tried their mold and used them? Wondering how durable they are and how true they run? I use similar type baits in the spring and fall on the Mississippi River and would love to hear reviews in on these
  6. Just started doing my own cranks this year from Dinger baits. In the past all I did was buy cranks on sale and re paint them. As far as hooks go do most you guys run the short shank style trebles I assume right? I am mainly painting them for casting wing dams for walleyes (Bomber 6A style) and curious on hook size. I am thinking the size 4 short shanked hook but curious as to what size others run with these style baits.
  7. After getting the responses from you guys I took a LED light to it and I belive it is need of a cleaning bad. You can see multiple colors/layers of create waterbase. I soaked it in soap/water and use the light wire air brush cleaner and seemed to not be enough. What can a guy use safely to break free some of the old coats?
  8. Having an issue getting my paasche double action gun to not back flow into my bottom feed paint and cause a blow out. I changed out the needles thinking maybe that was the issue and it is not. I noticed though if I have the head protecting cap and rear plastic cover over it's not as extreme but still does not discharge any paint or even water. What am I missing here? Last year was my first year with it and had zero issues like this.
  9. As long as I don't open the can of S81 I do not have storing issues correct? Have a current can in use but just ordered one for back-up to have if I run into any issues with storage.
  10. I appreciate the answer on that. I guess I will have to learn how to tap an spray. Any particular product you prefer to use for the gun to clean it after spraying to prevent it from curing in the gun as well
  11. Thanks for all the help and ideas guys it made my curve over the weekend go much smoother. After reading past conversations I plan to go with the Dick Nite S81 the one thing I did take notice to was every video I saw a can of bloxygen. Would I be ok to go and put that into a ball/mason jar and then after each use give a 3-5 second shot of that product into the jar and seal it and be ok for storage. I saw the other way of tapping the can as well but I thought maybe I could get by with the mason jar+bloxygen and still not risk it curing in storage. Thanks again everyone for all the advise!
  12. I am hoping to find a bait as similar as possible to get as close as I can to some of my favorite style cranks. I normally fish rivers with shad raps, flicker shads, floating rapalas, and cast bombber A's on wing dams. I know they (rapala, bomber, an Berkley) do not normally sell their lures unpainted but I am looking for a reliable bait that is a good runner and easily tuned. I have seen many people on forums say the off brank cranks often times are pure junk. Just wondering if anyone has their favorites out there and are reliable on the water for performance.
  13. I plan to start on some crankbaits as well and I am curious if I can use the s81 on those as well as my top coat or better of just doing the usual epoxy on those.
  14. I would lay a thermometer in the over the first go around or 2 because I have had ovens in the past turn out to be much hotter then the setting it is on.
  15. Morning, I currently powder paint a majority of my baits but I am looking into possibly going to createx. I can get a much finer detail is my hope in doing so. The issue I run into in the past is getting the paint not to peel off with my finger nail. I am curious what a guy needs to do as a primer base coat and also a seal coat to prevent the issue I have had in the past with the paint not sticking to the brass lure body and/or lead head. Any help would be appreciated greatly. Thanks
