Very cool! I'd like to try and make some reproductions of some of those antique lures. There's some really interesting stuff out there. This design certainly seems to have some good potential.
10 piece Tiger Salamander. The body is oak and the tail and head are poplar. Each leg is tipped with a barb that can serve as a plastic keeper. Hook hangers (2 on the belly), line tie, and hinges are twisted stainless steel wire.
I bet color diffusion principles make a big difference. I'll have to look up more info on that! I've been wondering which colors stay in the visible range best.
Makes sense! Most of the water here in IL where I fish is pretty stained, so right now I'm focusing on browns or really bright contrasting colors. My main fishing goal this year is to catch a muskie out of a local river on one of my baits...granted I've never caught one on anyone's baits, so it's pretty ambitious.
Before my next trip north I'll have to make something with more of a pike green pattern.
