  1. Thanks, seakarp. It's been about 2 1/2 weeks. I'll give it another week or so. For now, I'll just keep tying flies and coming up with color recipes/patterns for the new molds I'm waiting on.
  2. Hi all, I have attempted to contact basstackle multiple times and no one has replied. Is anyone else having trouble contacting them?
  3. Try all the hooks. When it comes to fly tying, I always say, "Learn the basics, and then bend them. Get weird, because you never know what's going to work until you try." Also remember, sometimes, simple is best.
  4. I'm fairly new to all this, but I read of a similar-ish problem with kill dots. Someone had suggested using a glue gun and a dowel. Search "kill dots" to read more. Hope that helps.
  5. Thank you everyone for the input. Appreciate it!
  6. I like using a Dai-Riki #135, size 12. I have also found car cleaning mitts at dollar stores in a variety of colors to use for my mop flies.
  7. Hi all, I am new to pouring my own soft plastics. I also hope I'm posting in the correct place--don't mean to start any chaos. I am an experience angler and even tie my own flies, but about a year ago my buddy got me into bass fishing and I am hooked! The one bait that never fails me is of course...discontinued. People have said that I can find these specific baits in the Yum bins at Walmart, but I am tired of looking for these bins and never finding them. I am ready to pour my own. I recently discovered a small company that pours the EXACT soft plastic. I'd ask them how they got their hands on the exact molds, but I don't want them thinking I'm trying to steal their business by starting one of my own. I would simply just like to pour my own favorite bait and make them in the colors I need. I recently reached out to a few companies, but now am feeling a little worried that I might be contacting companies that end up taking my money and making a run for it. I read about a few bad seeds in a different lure making forum, but really like this forum. Can anyone tell me if they've had great or bad experiences with any of these companies recently? Baitjunkys, LureCraft (Kim seems to be the contact person), TDS Molds. I'd like to support a US company and appreciate everyone's input. Thanks! Jay
