  1. Wanted to make a bait for the season. Hopefully it will score me some fish in the future.
  2. Great work! Do you give your baits a coat of epoxy before paint? Your lures always come out really clean.
  3. Sealing the tail will for sure give it less flexibility for sure. You can just leave it, but it will wear off much quicker. Maybe using something like you said, Mod Podge or a something pretty soft would work. Brush tails are really cool when done right, I haven't quite figured them out though. Lol! Good luck!
  4. Thanks! I'm always looking to get better and this site has been very helpful!
  5. Here is the build!
  6. I make general lure making content and fishing. Check it out if you are interested!
  7. Big walleye glide I made. Its got Lexan fins and made out of poplar wood. Here is the build vid if you want to check it out!
  8. It's great to see you here! I've really enjoyed some of your Youtube builds!

  9. Ok, that will be enough to get me started for sure. The centerline is from front to back, right? Just making sure I am understanding. That knowledge of the centerline thing sounds like it could be used on other lures. Maybe even glide baits. I make some glides that will wiggle on the fall; I didn't do it purposely but its kind of interesting that a big 8 inch bait would do it too. Right now I will just try drilling the weight hole past the center line and filling it up enough for a slow sink. I also feel like another part may be the shape of the baits profile, the round over. Yes, PVC trim board is great but I cant seem to get a good finish with it. It has some air bubbles in it. If you work with it for a while it kind of roughs up the surface of the material. Congrats on the fish! Its always nice to get one on home made lures.
  10. So I am making a little 3 inch spybait and I think most of them wiggle or shimmy when they sink. Does anyone know what causes this? I have a few ideas but nothing set in stone yet. Thanks!
  11. That's a really cool idea. And its apparently effective!
  12. Does that blade chatter well with that big lure body on it? Excellent catch!
  13. You can get most any parts and paint on amazon, Spraygunner has good paint prices.
  14. I would do basecoats with a rattle can and most other detail work with acrylic paint and brushes, and sharpies. But, thank goodness for airbrushes! I'm not going to give up on mine soon! Lol It would be kind of cool to see what everybody could do without using their airbrushes.
  15. Using the fine Black Diamond glitter can really make your paint jobs pop. I like to do it on most of my topcoats. It's fine enough not to make any problems with the clearcoat, as long as you use just a little. One thing is to know what color glitters go with certain paint jobs. Like the more silvery glitters are good for a shad or maybe a trout. If you get the wrong color it really looks depressing, Lol. https://amzn.to/3imvMsZ This stuff works pretty good, just remember that it is good as an accent and not a colorant. I'll have to get some pictures of ones I've done.
  16. I've heard good things about that stuff, I might give it a try.

    carp 2

Here is a giant carp I did recently. Lots of work!
  18. What clearcoat would ya'll recommend. I make big glides and I am using BSI 30 min epoxy right now. Just looking for something with a deep gloss and it needs to be tough. What I have can work but I'm wondering if there is a better one out there. Thanks!
  19. If you want a stable cranking action, just put the weight at the lowest part on the belly or wherever the pivot point is and throw a classic square lip or round on it. But, experience is a big part on this one like Hillbilly Voodoo said.
