Mojo Posted August 30, 2004 Report Share Posted August 30, 2004 2 reasons. 1. Plastisol is naturally buoyant, salt causes it to sink. More salt = faster sink rate; less salt = slower sink rate. 2. Salt tastes like blood to fish. Some research has shown that blood has a salty flavor to the fish, therefore adding salt to baits is supposed to make the fish hold onto the bait longer, giving you a better chance of setting the hook.
