Creating Opaque Baits

Recommended Posts

Anyone know how to make the appendages in baits opaque or less translucent when held up to light ? Is it just using more dye ? I usually use about 40 drops per cup. Or is there some other additive I can put in the plastic to achieve this ?

Yes i add more if the appendages are to clear. It just so happens the other day   i was making  black with blue flake jig trailers  & the leg part was way to clear for me  so i doubled the amount of  drops of colorant   & they look great now.

Depends on the bait your making, certain colorants have black added to them ie...green pumpkin, you can play on the colorant and reduce the amount of black you need to mix and still arrive at a good degree of opaque without sacrificing color.  Don't exempt the amount of flakes you may use as well.  Also depends if you're laminating 2 colors, one can be more translucent than the other, determine which one you want to be dominant.
