Flyingfisher Posted February 11, 2022 Report Share Posted February 11, 2022 Just wondering if anyone has made a jointed hard bodied swimbait with horizontal hinges that swims in a vertical undulating motion rather than the traditional side to side S action of typical swimbaits? I am thinking of building such a lure with 3 or more segments that will mimic the underwater motion of a rodent. So far I would assume that it will need to be a sinking bait, with the head section weighted more than subsequent sections. I’ve seen many flies and soft baits with this sort of undulating action but am not sure if will work on a hard bait? Any design tips or experience welcome. RiverSmallieGuy Posted February 11, 2022 Report Share Posted February 11, 2022 I would make the lure a flatter bodied bait, like a shad on it's side, and put the weight in the side of the shad and cut the V joint normally, just put the lead in the side to make it sit side facing down.
