Les Young Posted December 7, 2022 Report Share Posted December 7, 2022 I've tried several different junebug colorants & then ended up doing as Al said & started using lurecraft black grape. It makes a nice junebug color. Make regular junebug with kelly green glitter & add a little red until you're happy. You can also look up top in the stickys & find some recipes. I don't have my recipe book near me or i'd tell you mine but it's a easy color to make. A good example would be 4 ounces plastic, 18 or so drops colorant & see if it looks dark enough, 1/4 tea spoon .040 kelly green glittler & 1/8 tea spoon red glitter. 2 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

I use baitplastics medium formula for everything & if needed to be firmer i add some of their hard to it. As far as other good colorants lureworks junebug colorants are very nice ones too. I used lureworks violet 193 when i first started & thought something was wrong because my junebug came out a bright red color. Violet 193 is somewhat thermochromatic, meaning it takes on a pink hue when hot and stays that way for a bit before going back to its purple hue. It also can manifest a brown surface tone when loaded at higher levels, this is known as "bronzing" and isnt necessarily an indication that it got too hot or is burnt. Sorry just saw this & i'm in the house for the night & my recipe book is in the garage where i make my baits. Lureworks florida grape would be close i'd say but you can definitely make a good one with the black grape you have too.
