I have a couple ?'s for you rod building guru's.Im looking to build a jigging rod with a medium heavy back bone and a fast/very fast tip action.I jig for large laketrout that see a lot of fishing presure and have a very lite bite thus i need a rod a that is very sensitive at the tip in the casting rod style. Is it posible to buy a 6' rod blank and cut 6 inches off the butt section and not hurt the strength of the blank and not kill all the action in it.Also what is the best kind of reel seat for casting reels that is light and sensitive i.e.graphite,aluminum,upward,downward ect, ect. Also does it hurt anything to put over sized guides all the wat to the tip we fish in very cold weather and all the rods seem to have small casting guides and they freeze up to easy.
Could you guys recomend a good rod blank for this that is light weight and very sensitive at the tip for extremly lite bitting fish that wont break the bank.I have been looking on the mudhole site at there rainshadow IM8 blanks that are on clearance are these blanks any good?is there a better blank out there for the money?i cant seem to find a blank under 6"that fits what i need.(i really dont know where to look either)any help or tips would be great thanks.
