I don't cut off the sprue. i use a large needle pliers and rock it back and fourth until the sprue brakes off. Then I use a file to smooth the jig.

I use small brown paper bags. Works great and only cost a few dollars. We used them as lunch bags, back in the day. I got mine at Publix. There is like 50 bags.

Jacobs has them. But they ain't cheap. The Frame is $130.00 and the inserts are $30.00 each. I'll stay with the do-it molds.

Been awhile when that happen. To me if it says China it can be junk! Not sure but makes sense.

I did get around to pouring it. Mold needs some work. Too much flash and handle gets real hot. Need to make wooden handles.

Got it off of EBAY.  There is a name on it, Ament M# HH5 Inder, Mo. Never herd of that one. Just wondered if anybody knew anything about it. It's well used but works good.

[Finally found a great glue.]

It's called B-7000 by Nayrmer. It's a Jewelry glue. I know kind of turned me off too. But I was wrong. It's clear glue that dries clear and is very Flexible and Waterproof. I use it to put on eyes and Weed Guards. I also I use it to cover the thread wraps. Holds really good. Only draw back to it is the setup time. Hold time is 10 min. Set time they say is 24 hours. But it's more like 12 hours. You get 3 tubes of .9 oz. When you take off the cap you will see a small hollow tube on the tube part. and the cap has a solid small pin. The hollow helps you for putting out to much glue. The solid pin helps to keep from plugging up the hollow tube. Here is the link to the glue. Amazon.com

Most of the time, you can go up or down one size. But not all the time. 3/16 should work. #2 I don't think so.

Well, the top of the jigs was where the rough and pitted places were. So I rubbed it with my finger and found good old Florida sugar sand. which is white in color. lol So I cleaned it again. Came out better. So I ordered some good lead from Rotometals.

Thanks y'all for you help. Turns out the lead is full of sand and I didn't clean it good enough.

I have two batches of about 5o lbs. each. Not from the same place. One batch has a blue like vein running through it. Which makes the blue lead on the surface be rough and sometimes pitted. I tried cleaning the lead again with candle wax. But It didn't help. Do you know a way to fix it? Or should I just get rid of it?

I use them when I bake the jigs. I used a diagonal cutter to cut them in half. There is paint on the outside of the hole sometimes. Use the cutter or a small file to remove it.

I hold the jig head and not the hook. Hold the sprue with a pair of big needle nose pliers. Rocking the pliers side to side.( not front to back). The sprue come off more evenly. If your lead is hard it may leave a hole in the top of the jig. I don't use hard lead.

I made baits for about 3 years. I stopped making them because of the smell. Plus they don't have a long shelf life. Make them and if they set around for a few months they turn very oily. Wearing a respirator in Florida in your garage in the summer... well sucks! I still make Jig heads.

i use the Blaster. It works so much better then smoking the mold.

I got this mold to mod. to take bigger hook for saltwater fishing. I think using a 30 degree hook and a lot of cutting it might work. Has anybody done this?
