The NHL Western Conference Finals will once again feature the Dallas Stars against the Edmonton Oilers.

Game 1 is Wednesday night at 8 p.m. EDT, and will be played at American Airlines Center in Dallas. You can watch it on ESPN or live stream it on ESPN+, fubo TV (FREE trial), Sling TV (discount) and DIRECTV (FREE trial and discount).

Coaches Pete DeBoer and Kris Knoblauch remain in charge, just like last year, so the structures are pretty much unchanged for both teams. Edmonton still has 100-point teammates Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl, while Dallas has its core of young scorers such as Roope Hintz, Wyatt Johnston and Jason Robertson, along with veterans Tyler Seguin and captain Jamie Benn.

The same 26-year-old goalies will again be in net when the series starts — Jake Oettinger for the Stars in their third consecutive West final, and Stuart Skinner for the Oilers, though he had lost his starting job in these playoffs.

Game 1 was a thriller last year as Edmonton took a 2-0 lead and Dallas tied it. McDavid took a double minor for high-sticking 17 seconds into overtime, and Stars forward Jason Robertson hit two posts on the ensuing power play. Oettinger made a huge save on McDavid in overtime, but McDavid scored 32 seconds into the second overtime to give Edmonton a 3-2 win.

The Stars came back to take a 2-1 series lead, but the Oilers won the next three and the series in six games, the lost to the Florida Panthers in the Stanley Cup Finals.

The winner plays either the Carolina Hurricanes or Panthers in this year’s finals.
