After their six-goal thriller in Spain, Inter Milan and Barcelona head to San Siro with everything to play for in the second leg of this Champions League semi-final.

Inter will feel they let a big opportunity slip after leading twice in the first leg, but they return home with confidence, knowing their record at San Siro is formidable. With experienced heads and the memory of their 2010 triumph over Barca at this same stage, Inzaghi’s side will hope their solid defensive track record and passionate home support can help them book another trip to the final.

Barcelona, meanwhile, come into the tie full of momentum and belief. Lamine Yamal’s jaw-dropping goal and Raphinha’s equaliser showed their attacking class, and under Hansi Flick, they’ve become one of Europe’s most dangerous sides going forward. With silverware already in the bag and top spot in La Liga still in sight, confidence is high.

But history isn’t in their favour, Barca have struggled in semi-final second legs on the road, and their record in Italy, especially at San Siro, is far from encouraging. Still, with young stars hitting form and a potent frontline leading the charge, the Blaugrana won’t be short on ambition as they look to return to the Champions League final for the first time in a decade.

What time does Inter Milan vs Barcelona kick off?

This Champions League clash takes place at the San Siro in Milan, Italy and kicks off on Tuesday, May 6, 2025 at 9:00 p.m. local time.

Inter Milan vs Barcelona predicted lineups, team news

Star striker Lautaro Martinez could only manage 45 minutes in last week's game as he continues to manage a thigh problem. However, a report in the print edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport on Monday suggested the Argentina international will be ready to partner first-leg goalscorer Marcus Thuram up front.

Hakan Calhanoglu served a domestic suspension at the weekend but that merely meant he was one of several first-choice stars who sat out the weekend win over Verona. Like his opposite number, Inter boss Simone Inzaghi is coming into this one with the benefit of fresh legs.

Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick has a headache in both fullback positions and must also weigh rushing any players back against the looming demands on a pivotal La Liga Clasico against Real Madrid this coming Saturday.

Jules Kounde will miss out after limping off during the first leg, while Alejandro Balde does not appear to have recovered in time from a hamstring injury of his own.

It means Flick could effectively field four central defenders, with Eric Garcia filling in at right-back and Inigo Martinez shifting to left-back, with Ronald Araujo coming in to partner Pau Cubarsi at the heart of defence. Flick made the latter switch at halftime in the initial game after young full-back Gerard Martin endured a torrid time.

Inter raced into a two-goal lead inside the opening 22 minutes in the first leg before Barcelona fought back in a remarkable encounter in Spain.

Raphinha’s strike that smashed against the crossbar before going in off Yann Sommer means this tie hangs in the balance at 3-3 ahead of the decider at the San Siro.

With the away goals rule being abolished a few seasons ago, Inter don’t have an advantage. But both sides know they will have to win the game either in 90 minutes or extra-time to avoid a penalty shootout.

Barcelona have already successfully negotiated a semi-final clash in similar circumstances this season. Following a 4-4 first leg draw with Atletico Madrid in February, they won the second leg 1-0 to reach the Copa del Rey final.
