Plastic Hula Skirts

Recommended Posts

Anyone know the best way to cut out a skirt from a circular piece of rubber. I don't know of a tool that's made for that. I'm talking about a skirt like on plastic lures, NOT like on spinnerbaits. Also, anyone know where I can find a color mixing chart for making soft plastic baits ? Thanks.

Welcome aboard.

There are tube tail cutters that LureCraft sells, but not sure if it would do what you want to do. I believe they also sell a color wheel.

At the top of the 'soft plastics' forum there is a sticky titled "Soft Plastic Cookbook". Lots of recipes in there. Try the search function for tail cutters. There are a few different types that guys here have built. Maybe it'll give you some ideas to build your own. Lots of good folks willing to help here. Don't hesitate to ask.

you need to build one culchie , a big piece of pvc pipe will work, use a thing dremel saw for the cuts it will hold the blades in just fine.

another way is to use the pvc pipe and get carpet blades, you will however have to grind the center of each carpet blade out, so they will stack nicely and won't cut the center.

I tried learning that trick found out it was easier to just buy them. I get mine from getbitlures.com Jeff is a great guy to work with and there skirts are top notch. they are a double skirt so i can either use them as a double or cut them in half and use them as a single. You should see the action in the water. I put them on the ika bodys real nice. Later Queez
