    World Record??

Me thinks this is a bass (?). I almost didn't notice it but was fishing light with a 40 size Spearhead Ryuki so paying extra attention, at first thought it was a tiny piece of hair algae.
  2. Fingers crossed for no piranha on next months trip. One nip and you're reelin in a baldy.
  3. This looks like a great addition to the peacock bass arsenal.
  4. As a huge fan of both the old and newer versions of The Fly movies, love this lure. Beautifully done!
  5. ,,, and I use a Trevala S jigging rod with a shortened butt for peacock bass in Brazil and Colombia. A few months ago got a two pound largemouth on a bright orange eight inch woodchopper I was tuning the prop on in my back yard lake when they hadn't been hitting anything.
  6. Hand carved red cedar (my first attempt). Runs shallow and had a 2 1/2# bass grab it while testing.

    Chopper

Always good to have a few spares, not many tackle shops in the Amazon jungle.
  8. Beautiful. If the fish like any one of those colors they'll hit it.
  9. I found these at Michaels craft store while looking around for something else, only 2 bucks and they come in different colors and are micro thin and really reflective. The best way I've come up with so far for application is with a toothpick wrapped with a turn of double sided Scotch tape. You could glue em or apply between epoxy coats when the lure is still a little tacky. They're thin enough to be able to get away with one coat if they're all down flat

    Ready For Piranha

Thank You Will. It's amazing how much time you can spend on one jig when simple works just fine, something to do between trips.

    Pike Pattern

Random pattern using a white base coat then dabbing with an Elmers washable glue stick, spraying a coat of green, then washing off lure when the green dries. The pike seemed to like it.

    Ready For Piranha

A few assorted peacock bass jigs.
  13. Thanks Braided. I'm in Palm Beach County, have had good results here and in Brazil with these in various colors. On Canada trip a year ago the pike loved one in a pike pattern, did that one with a white base coat, then dabbed with an Elmers washable glue stick, sprayed green paint and washed lure when it dried.
  14. Thanks. Our Brazil guide last trip in December was OK with using any color lure... as long as it was bone. The slip wire eggs got my best fish there a year ago so made up some more for Colombia next month.
  15. These can be found in the 3 dollar bin at Wally World, they have great action and make a nice palette to play with.
