I had a big hunk of lead that I was using. Now it is gone, I went and got some shotgun shot. Is it just me, or is the shotgun shot not as heavy? Also where do you get your lead? Thanks -Corey

My 7? Ty-Jack lure has 5/0 and I would not go smaller. I have seen a seminar that they had a jawbone from a 50? musky showing why you should use bigger hooks. After seeing it I was wondering if 5/0 was big enough. He went on showing big fish that was lost on small hook baits in his TV Show. So if you wont to hook and keep her hooked use a bigger hook. He said he takes off all factory hooks and replace with 7/0. This guy only fishes for big 50? fish. -Corey PS. This is my 100th post on (TU) YEE HA!

Rich, I had the same E-mail. I was thinking the same thing. He is only after pike or musky lures. Red, PM if you would like the E-mail address. -Corey

Good Job!!! Looks like a killer bait. Good job on closing the gaps. -Corey

Jed, don?t soak your single action o-ring on your needle in thinner, or you it will limit the life on it. -Corey

count draculure I love your idea of cutting in ?. I don?t think it would add time, if anything I would think it would be faster. I know how hard it is when you try to drill perfict in center. Your way you could do a 4-foot or bigger board at a time. Thanks nice idea! -Corey

Coley, That is the easiest and how most do it. If you?re off on the drill the lathe will help you out. -Corey

John, most of my top water musky lures the front or body of the bait the wire is epoxy in. The back small 2 or 3 inches of the bait is what you wont to spin. Most bait makers will add some rivets to the front and back for the bearing, more than likely two or three beads. Some like the Slammer lure has a blade on the front and or back. The thing you don?t wont is your body of the bait spinning with the hook just the part with the prop. As for the sealing just pore some sealer or us a Q-Tip I think will work great. PM me, if you wont I can send you a sketch of it. -Corey

Maze, you are right on catching big fish on small - small jigs. I was in Canada one year Ice fishing the first day we caught over 100 white fish. Then a cold front moved in and we could not buy a fish. We tried everything in the tackle box logical. Than I started to tie on a micro jig, my friend started to laugh. He was wondering how I was going to get that jig down in 70 feet of water. I put on approximately 5 split shots so I could get it down on the bottom with the water undercurrent. I have never seen someone change baits so fast when I caught the first fish of the day as soon as it hit the bottom. -Corey

Rich, sorry I must have missed Jed saying it was a single action brush. Than you are right on the needle, I have had my single action brush over two years on the same needle. That is the one I have also sprayed my Etex with. So it takes a beating on the clean up. I have only replaced the o-ring in my single action. Rich, as for the covering the tip and pushing the paint back in the paint jar. That is when I was running in the problem with paint splattering the air hole. Then I would not get the paint to move. You are correct don?t do it with the metal color cup, I have a great paint splatter hat and shirt form trying to do it. I thought, way not if I use just use little air. Wrong, little air turn into lots of air when the first splatter hit my face. Try and explain what you did when your wife is rolling on the floor laughing her @$$ off. I think some times that is why my wife likes it when I work on my lures.

Also, I keep a jar of water near. Some paint will dry on the tip fast, and a quick shot of water some time will help. Also run some water in the middle of switching colors and if you are going to pause for a min. I have also seen the same thing when I grabbed some of my wife?s craft paint that was old. Jed is it just one color or is it anything you put through your brush? I have not ruled out the needle, just throwing more things you can try. However it is looking more and more like the needle. -Corey

No Jed the Metal Color Cup. Look at the Photo, now I just thin in the squeeze tube and put in how much I need in the Metal Color Cup. Now I don?t think is the small hole plugged or anything. Now I just have to have the paint thin enough. -Corey

Welcome aboard frenchbasser. Good question I don?t have the answer but I would like also, know how do you select the size, angel, and round or square when you make a new bait. -Corey

Jamie, I bought a new Paasche airbrush about 5 or 6 months ago. I had the same circumstances as you, every time I used my airbrush it worked like S@%t. I was making my paint thin as water, turning the air pressure up about 50-60PSI. Anything I did I could not get it to paint a nice thin line it was trying to dump all the paint out at once or nothing. I was so angry that I was painting everything by cans. One day my buddy asked why I don?t use the small little open cup. I tried it one time and that is all I use now. I started to think and looked at the hose on the cap and found it was seated on the bottom of the jar. The paint could not get sucked up the hose. After I fixed it, it works just fine. Jamie and Jed, it is more than likely something foolish like what happened with me, if you try all the things that was posted. Rich, you are correct on thinning your paint deferent per color. -Corey

Way to go Marc! That is a nice fish on a nice bait! Did you cut the lip? If yes what did you use? Thanks -Corey

Terry, Good work with the brush! -Corey

You need a Liquid Plastic Hardener. You can get it when you buy your Liquid Plastic. -Corey

You better believe it has that much lead in it. That is why I call it the tank! When I made a my Ty-Jack lure that is what I was trying to get out of my bait, everything the Hughes River has subtract the heavy weight the hard to work and low hooking %. Don?t get me wrong I love the Hughes River I know it works, but the things I told you turn me off. I can get my lure to work like the Hughes River and filling like I don?t have a lure behind my line. This allows me to work my lure all day, when I could only work the Hughes only a couple hours. -Corey

I don?t think throwing big 8? musky bait is going to help. I throw them all day and I maybe catch one bass every 3 trips. When I do it is a big one. This year I was fishing a small musky tournament the same day they had a bass tournament. I took 4th in the musky tournament but I would have won the bass tournament. I three fish over 6lbs and one that was a least 8lbs. 16lbs won the tournament. That was the best day fishing I have had, yea I had two small muskies all on my lures. This day I was catching big and small bass I have never done that before. I am with (MR I would keep it down to the swim baits maybe some of the smaller crank baits. Good luck -Corey

Jed, I can get my flat sided glide bait almost all the way back around in a 180*. This is how the weight is in the manta. -Corey
-
John, Buy one of my Ty-Jacks it has what you are looking allover it. No, this is what took all my time trying to get the perfect running lure is the weight. So you are on your --- I could not do that to you. Here it is you only need one weight. Put that weight in the center turning point of the bait. So how do you find the center? Take your finger and find where your lure will sit level on our finger, that is the center turning point of your bait. Sorry John, I now have to kill you for telling you that. (Just kidding!) -Corey

I would like to say thanks. Awhile back I had some questions and problems on mold making. Someone told me about Durham?s Water putty. If I had to recommend one for the newcomer, it would be the Durham?s water putty. Last night I made a two-part mold ? plaster and ? Durham?s water putty. The Plaster cracked on me like always. The water putty mold is the only mold I have had work. Thanks TU -Corey

Maybe next time throw back the biggest thing you have in your box. I can?t tell you how many big bass I catch on my musky lures. -Corey
