  1. Del: I sell my sticks $4.00 per 10 pack. I went online and googled hand poured worms. Then I went to a bunch of sites to see what they were selling their sticks for. Most were between $3.75-$4.25. That is how I came up with the price. I also did a cost calculation and figured that was a reasonable profit. I could be way off on this but that is how it has been. That is where I am going to have trouble. Either I will have to wholesale pretty low, or I will have to raise my price for direct sales. I am going to play with the numbers and see what I can come up with. By the way, do you still make 5 inch with no egg sac? I can only find the the ones that taper really sharply to a point, or they have the sac. Thanks. Saint.
  2. Thanks for the great info guys. I do have labels that I printed on address labels. They are net as pretty as say Zoom, but they are economical. As for the pricing, it sounds like the best way to go is to sell it to them and guarantee to buy it back if it does not sell? For example, I sell the store a pack of Senkos for $3.00 and they mark it up to $3.75. Then I buy back anything they do not sell. If I sell any to individuals, I should sell for more than $3.75. Is this what you guys are saying? Thanks. Saint.
  3. Thanks Nova. I want to see just how much demand there is before I go buying pouring pots and tons of molds. I have every intention of becoming legal, I just did not want to for $100/year. Saint.
  4. I have a quick question for you business people out there. I never really expected to be able to sell my baits. I was only doing it for fun and friends. However, I have been fortunate enough to have a few people buy from me (about $100/year). Not much, but enough to buy plastic. Now, I have been introduced to a couple of shop owners that have shown some interest in giving me a few pegs to hang some bags. One of the shops is a small shop by a boat launch. They do not do a huge amount of volume, which is what I like. The other is a much larger operation. I am not sure the best way to negotiate here. I think I have seen this topic somewhere, but can't find it. So here are my questions: 1. Should I sell my baits to the shop and let them mark it up, or should I hang my bags and give them a cut of sales? 2. How many colors should I stock of each design? 3. Part of the beauty of hand pouring is the ability to customize. How does the customer from a shop know that I customize, and how do you compensate the shop for custom lures? I guess if I put bags in a shop, I need to do it legally and get Tax ID numbers and all that commotion. Any suggestions on becoming legal? Thanks in advance. Saint.
  5. Otto: Those look good. I especially like the one all the way to the left. It looks kinda like a smoke color, what exactly is it? Thanks. Saint.
  6. Sock: .03 grams per stick? Is that a typo? Saint.
  7. What does your material costs? What is your time worth? Somewhere around there you will find your pricing. I fought this battle not that long ago. If you try to undercut the mass, you will be out of business before you start. Saint.
  8. Here is a pic of one from Lowes for $40. Saint.
  9. I did not buy my respirator at lowe's. My brother gave me one from his company. I was posting what I believe I saw when looking at Lowe's. If $15 seems low then maybe it was the replacement cartiges I was thinking of. Sorry for the confusion. Saint.
  10. I would cancel the pouring pan and buy some pyrex measuring cups. Then go down to goodwill and buy a decent microwave. Next I would add a respirator to the list. Lowe's has them for about $15. You could also consider salt and scents. Hope this helps. Saint.
  11. Sock: good looking baits and great picture taking. Saint

    SALT

I follow and I agree. I pour sticks with and without salt. I fish trick worms wacky style, so I need the salt. I also pour the trick worms without salt for c-rigging. It all depends on what you are going to use the bait for. Saint.
  13. I am pretty sure the finesse worm has salt, but I may be wrong. Saint.
  14. I have a sony cybershot 7.2mp. I am tryinig to figure out how to take a really good clear pic like I see the others take. I have tried the macro no flash and macro w/flash, but nothing is what I want. Some people can take a pic containing the entire bait and the color and flake detail is perfect. For me to get the color and flake detail to show up I have to be so close that I get about 1-2 inches of a stick. I may be asking for a miracle, but it worth a shot. Saint.
  15. I have been using the search feature trying to find old posts on taking pics of baits. However, I cannot find anything. I remember reading these posts a while back, so I know they are here. Does anyone know where I could get some guidance on this? Thanks. Saint.
  16. Printertom: i do pour my sticks a little light on the salt. My baits weigh about 11g. The water we fish down here is about 4-5 ft deep. So I want a slower falling bait. Saint.
  17. Printertom: I use the same formula for trick worms that I use for sticks. 1.5 TBS salt to 4 oz. plastic. Saint.
  18. Kelly: Longhorn was showing his pouring table with heat lamps. Saint.
  19. Big Lots? Fishing Dept.? I sure wish they had one like that here. Saint.
  20. Yes and yes and a respirator. Of course that is just my opinion. Saint.
  21. Ok... Let me clarify what I meant in my post about publically mentioning the name of a company that had done you wrong. I do not want anyone to think I am the kind that slanders people for no reason. I like to think I am a friendly little cajun that does not want to hurt or offend anyone. I believe you should always go to the company first and present your problem. If they do not correct the problem then go public. I may have misunderstood the original post from printertom. I thought he was saying that he was not getting anywhere by complaining to the company and this was an ongoing battle, and that is why I said to go public. Man I feel like a politician back stepping like this. I need a cold one. Saint.
  22. Yep, what he said. I actually order SS by the 5 gallons and regular for frogs by the gallon. Saint.
  23. I am pretty sure I know who you are talking about, but why not put the name out so others won't have to deal with the same problems. Generally bad publicity will either fix the problem or force them out of business. Either way it is thier choice to make. Saint.
  24. Bottom: 1.25 TBS. salt and 2oz. plastic Top: 2 drops light watermelon .25 TBS salt Medium gold and black flake to taste small green flake to taste There you go. Saint.
