    Melting lead

When you melt large sheets of lead to pour into and ingot mold can you use an old kitchen pot or does it have to be cast iron? I got an old camping stove and some old kitchen pots that I would like to try to use. Thanks Ryan.

  7. Has anyone ever use the lead from the battery cables that fit on to the battery post? If so how pure of lead is it? I have a friend who has a couple of 5 gal buckets of the cable heads. But before I junk up my garage with more stuff I will never use I thought I would check it out first. Thanks Ryan.
  8. Are Hilts molds molds any better than a do-it mold? I have may try my luck with a Hilts instead of a do-it and was wondering if it would be any better for a 5/8 oz jig. Ryan:tipsy:
  9. Can anyone tell me the difference between the Sparkie and and Arky jigs? I have the Sparkie jig mold now and was thinking of getting an Arky mold. Just by looking at the two they look very similar, was wondering if there is any difference when they are in the water. Thanks Ryan.

    Hook Style

I am pouring a Football jig (Model FBW-4-AF) and I am using a 4/0 Mustad 32746BLN hook. This is a thin wire hook and it does not leave much room when you put a full size jig trailer on. Is there a bigger style hook that I can use with this mold? Thanks Ryan.
  11. Thanks for all the replies. I took two bags of frozen peas, put one on the top and one on the bottom of the rod and waited about fifteen minutes and it fixed the problem. Thanks for the help Ryan.
  12. I have a telescopic rod that is stuck, and I can't get it to move. Does anyone have any ideas on how to fix this? Thanks Ryan.
  13. They look great. I would like to see the others. Just curious how much more do the rods weigh with the wood VS cork? Thanks Ryan.
