  1. Thanks Mark I am going to give a 2 part mold a try using solarez. I will try to see if I can do one half in plaster of Pari s and then solarez and after it hardens chip away the plaster from the master and then cover with Vaseline and do the other side with with solarez. If that works I want to try using it also on foams and other hard curing resins as I find that molds made of silicone expand with foams and doesn't give exact copies every time.
  2. Thats pure genius Mark. never thought of using solarez for molds. I wonder if it could be used to make molds for Smooth on resins? Do you just paint it over the soft plastic original? Can a two part mold be made?
  3. Darn Lawyers always take all the fun out of things.
  4. I bought a couple of ShopSmiths for $100 each with all the standard attachments included, then sold the attachments that I would never use or the duplicates and got the two machines for free : )). if ya have the room they a amazing tools. I mounted a 10" long inflatable drum sander on one side and that's the tool I use the most for cedar or poplar. It shapes anything in seconds using course sandpaper including finger tips LOL. Now I wear Teflon gloves when I use it.
  5. Travis don't you find that the bearings wear out by using the drill like that? I guess if it's balsa it doesn't put enough pressure on the bearings.
  6. Loads of room you got there, even enough for a used ShopSmith. Wife might kick you out, buy hey you got to prioritize things in life ; )
  7. Went to a lawyers office quite a few years back. The old guy hit the vintage timer as I sat down, then proceeded to explain his fee structure by pausing 1 to 1 1/2 seconds between each word. LOL. After about a minute or so I got up and walked out.
  8. Nathan you are right about the fraud case. Knowing what you do about police procedures maybe you could help her out privately a bit by advising her the proper way to approach the police dept. it can be a really uncomfortable experience for someone who hasn't done it before. I have been told by one officer that my case was civil and then I moved on to another and he quickly proceeded with a criminal case, so it helps to feel confident in knowing how to approach the situation and the lingo that is needed to get their attention.
  9. Up here when you federally charter your company name it is 100% protected against anyone else using it in the same type of business across the country.
  10. Sorry my mistake you guys in the USA are not protected by federally charted corps anymore. Too bad for you. Anyway the company name still belongs to you and proceedings can be taken against someone who infringes on your interests and income by pretending to be your company.
  11. Saltwater it is a Corperate Identity that I speak of as name. You give up too easily ; )
  12. You own your Company name. If your name is a Legal registered company name and someone is using it to fraudulently fool people into thinking that they are buying your product THAT IS ILLEGAL on many fronts. Just ask any two bit Lawyer.
  13. I agree with bass100. The fact that this person is using your identity and name as his own is the main issue here. He can and is ruining your reputation and that is illegal and immoral. Usually jokers like this are only out for the money and really don't care about quality and even less about your business and reputation. At the very least send a reg letter for him to cease any and all further actions immediately or legal action will be imminent. PERIOD. If you can prove that he is using your company name you could possibly call the police dept in his area and see if you can press fraud charges, because he is fraudulently using your name to fool other people. Nothing more will scare the crap out of a jerk like this than a knock on the door by the cops. I was able to press fraud charges once for something similar. Also eBay will ban him if you can prove that he is using your identity. Have fun : ) it's all part of running a business.
  14. Bill I had a 40 ft container arrive from China about 15 years ago and it got seized because all the pallets the product was on were infested with longhorn beetles. I mean thousands of them. It cost me $4000.00 to fumigate the container with methyl Bromide. After that I only accepted goods on plastic pallets. Be careful with exotic woods that might have slipped through the inspection process. Not saying this company is involved in any wrong. Just a warning that if buying blanks from overseas companies or sellers beware about possible critters in the wood Like you said Bill if you ever see sawdust in a shipment, it's a really bad sign, burn it immediately along with the packing. One pregnant bug can wipe out an entire forest range and lumber industry
  15. Maybe longhorned beetle wood I think if I was selling blanks I would be proud of the quality of the wood I was selling ?
  16. I am sure someone will join this discussion who has used both. You probably can get d2t locally to get started or use forever if you like it. Each type of wood is different. There are years and years of trial and error reported here on many different methods and concoctions that people have tried some work great others don't. You might want to mention the type of wood you plan on using so anyone who uses the same wood can help you Also the type and size of lure would help people give you the proper info
  17. I use Solarez to seal my poplar wood musky baits. There are so many ways to seal wood. This site has so much info on almost every possible subject. For sure take the time to search and read subjects that you want to learn about. Solarez is only available from the supplier as far as I know. Make sure you buy the right formula of Solarez I use the gloss. I think the quart is only about $22 and it lasts a really long time as long as it's kept in the dark. It cures up fast in the sun and is hard like rock once cured.
  18. Casting resin can mean a couple things, either a clear resin used to encapsulate small objects like coins , flower etc. or a resin like smooth-on that can be used to make lures using silicone molds it's is not clear. Solarez is clear and used as a sealer and or topcoat kind of the same way as epoxies but it cures almost immediately under UV light. It works great as a sealer, but as a topcoat it isn't crystal clear as epoxie. For topcoat epoxie look up Envirotex here or on the web.

    Large Grubs

The ones I am looking for are like this. The body is short and chubby. Is there anyone on TU that makes these? I would much rather support members.
  21. Does anyone know where to get large grubs like the Kalin's BIG'N 10" grubs. I want to put them on the back of some musky baits. Does Kalin's still exist? I could get away with 8" if those aren't available anymore.
