  1. Hi all, havent been here in a while cause of work. Mila,I have the exact same thoughts as you! I first started handing a few to family and freinds. Some how they got shown, used, and given to others I did not know. One day I was contacted by an author for Texas Fish And Game magazine about my hobby. He ended up meeting with me and writing a feature article in march of 2008.The rest is history, even though I commented in the article about keeping it a hobby the calls started flooding in.Since then another local magazine has written an article also about me teaching my kids and their freinds the craft.I still only sell about 15to25 a year but have an order log in the hundreds. For the answer to the price question.I ask for 20 to 35 dollars each and the orders keep comming in.Im not in the buissines nor will I ever be,but it is flattering to know there is such a great demand for the art that we create. Thanks to TU guys Im at the level that I am.
  2. What type of paint did you use?I ran into that with water base paints not absolutely dry before coating.
  3. Sounds like a good tutorial(Waterproofing your work station)ha ha,My bench is a disaster as well. Its good to keep a sense of humor about this hobby.I would be a miserable person if I got mad every time my lathe slung a piece of wood at me.
  4. I use vaseline, works well.I keep my paints in plastic totes,My shop is climate controlled I guess it helps Ive never had em dry out on me yet. Maybe take em inside with ya guessing there in a warm shop.
  5. Are you refering to Kelure of custom Lures Unlimited
  6. I think a lot of it has to do with the angle between the rod tip and the line tie. Think about the cranks that run under the boat and turn up as they aproach the end of the retrieive.Just a thought.
  7. This is the whole reason for me to start building my own baits.None of the actions out there were working for me anymore and the color schemes, well lets just say OMG.
  8. Yes you can with amazing results.Be sure you clean the brush soon and often, the stuff dries fast!Acetone will do the trick/Lots of ventilation.
  9. Im guessing your from TX,Texas fish game magazine did an article this month on me and my balsa crankbaits. It is a basic step format but I think it will steer you in the right direction. The article is called ( Turning Wood Into Bass) Its not what ya think. Good luck
  10. Thanks alot to all of your efforts in this.Nothing replaces a visual reference to get the creative juices flowing. Will this be able to accomodate video as well?
  11. Hero to zero with one slip of the gator clip! Me
  12. Yanking a lure from a tree and yelling not enough warning for your buddy in tha back of the boat!!!!!Ouch
  13. You think they would visit this site every now and then to keep up with the buzzzz.I know I would.Theres alot of money directed to them from this site they have to know about it./On another note, I carried a #######/supply catalogue to a local hobby lobby to see if the manager could stock some of the stuff.Who knows, we'll see.
  14. How about a simple site with its own name/custom lures ./ that directs the customer to the classifieds on TU.This would promote alot of you with your own sites as well. Those of us who dont can spruce up pictures and listings at our own hastle.Of course TU needs reimbursement for the use of the site,Im willing to pitch in.I know this is not tying the worms to the cranks theory but it's a start! The name would have to be very catchy to stay on top.Just an idea.
