  1. I also use a rotisserie motor that I purchased at Home Depot. If they do not have them in stock you can buy them online from Home Depot. I am unsure at the speed it turns but have never really cared as it works great on both etex and D2T. I cut out two large plywood discs and drilled holes on the outer edge that I have attached to the rod. I also have numerous dowels with alligator clips attached. I will put my lure/piece in the clip at the beginning to paint it and have another piece of wood with numerous holes drilled that I use at my paint station. When I am done painting I will clear coat and throw on the drying wheel. I never have to remove the lure from start to finish off the dowel and it makes it very handy.
  2. Thanks for the report MtnMan, its greatly appreciated.

    Beautiful paint job!
  4. Thank you, I still have to hit the white spots with a smaller olive drab spot to make it "pop" im loving the 3D effect you get and it looks great in the water.

  12. Because it is much easier (it would be for me anyway) to put a piece of tape on a flat work surface and get the same signature everytime than it it would be to try and sign a small bait in the palm of my hand with curves. Just my .02:roll:
  13. Just thinking out loud...what about signing on a piece of scotch tape then sticking to lure and covering?

    Rainbow Proto #2

My second run at this. I modified my hinge system from the 1st and used microfibbets for the tail. It is carved from PVC Millwork, weighs 3.2 oz and is 8" long. Took it for test swim and it worked great!

    Rainbow wakebait

Well I finally got it down to the lake and it swam perfect even barely cranking. It has a perfect fluid motion like a snake and when you stop or twitch it does a 180. sinks very very slow. Now I have to make another one to make sure it wasnt a fluke.

  22. Well i decided to give PVC Millwork a shot and compare to the wood and I have to say "two thumbs up!" I love the stuff. Here is my rainbow prototype. Its 9" long and swims like a champ right below the surface. im thinking of putting a lip on it to get it down a couple feet but havent decided yet...

    Bluegill

Thanks for the great advice Mark, I will try that.
  24. Thanks guys. I have not done a video clip yet...snows holdin me up. I carved this one out of poplar and used a dremel and razor knife for the gill plate and details after I cut the basic shape with the band saw. The tail and fin is actually a high end paintbrush/nylon bristles. I could not find any fibbets locally.
