  1. Hi Griffo, I have just tried a 1mm deep recessed eye modification to the the same banana head mold to apply flat eyes and found that at this depth the wire and hook eye are exposed when pouring, having said this I had put the eyes up very high on the mold, I would like to see Basseducers directions for an adjustable modification.
  2. Hi all, I have decided to dabble with a few crank baits and am happy with the progress of the pro to type so far but have hit a stumbling block with the bibs. The lures are for large Australian natives largely Murray cod, the lures will be deep divers to around 6-8 meters and made of balsa wood. The bibs themselves will be quite large and I would like to know what type of product to use, how to cut it and lastly how ensure a neat finish with consistent shape? I know I am asking a lot of questions that may have been covered in the past but I couldn't find any with the search feature. Thanks in advance legends!
  3. Hi all, I was wondering if anyone could tell me if there is any advantages or disadvantages other than convenience of the tow point between the 2 options for spinner bait wires?

  9. The last lot of banana spinnerbaits I poured the lead has not gripped the wire shaft properly so you can feel the wire move inside the lead, anyone got some help with this one, also I am currently melting the lead over a gas burner with a pouring ladle and thinking of upgrading the a melting pot. I use do-it molds and wondering what type of pot to go for? Than ks in advance champs!
  10. Hi Hazmail, Your lures look great mate,I had a crack at making a wooden version of a rapala clackn rap, not too bad for a beginner, but much room for improvement. I was wondering if someone out there may have a tutorial that shows how to refine or clean up the lures to get them symetrical after the rough cut out. That seems to be the bit I am failing at the moment. I am also wondering how work out where to attach the tow point. One other thing you may be able to help me out with is devcon 2 ton, apparently they are not selling it in Aus any more, any suggestions on a replacement? Regards Brendan Oh so many more questions.............

  16. Hi all, I recently bought some green glo powderpaint, and I am not happy with the finished product. I heated as per normal and dipped in a fluid bed then baked as per the instructions but the finish is rough, blotchy and messy. I have applied 5 coats to each bait but there all the same. Anyone got the news on how to get the right finish with this stuff? PS CS Coatings product:eek:
  17. PS Sorry for the time delay in my posts I am in Australia. Anyone else here from Australia?
  18. Hi All, Thanks for the feedback and information guys, I am sure I will be trying all suggestions, Cadman, firstly let me say I endevour to finish a lure like yours! simply stunning. Mate, I am using a 5/8 Banana mold I am wanting to paint the eyes not so much in the traditional black on white but moreso in a single colour in a pattern. I can email a sample of what i'm after if you like. I am guessing the same rules would apply to apply a red stripe underneath the lure as well for a bit of colour flash. I have sent through my email addy. Thanks Brendan
  19. Hi all, this is my first post and I would like to thank you in advance for your assistance. I have been making my own spinnerbaits for a while now and would like to upgrade them to painted eyes. I have been trialing the nail head method but have found it difficult to get a nice uniform round profile. I am powder painting the heads and using water based model paint for the eyes. Can anyone give me some further ideas on how to get this process right?. I would also like some advise on how to get the positioning consistant. Cheers Brendan
