  1. I would like to make injection baits but I have no idea what the equipment would cost. Does any body know? Thanks Matt
  2. Ok guys I need help. I need some custom wire forms and I was hoping you guys could give me the cheapest sources. Thank you.
  3. buy an aluminum mold. They are a lot easyer to use. Even though they cost more, they dont realy depreciate. You can always sell them on ebay or here. Calhouns or Mf plastic are the easiest to work with. You can get Cahouns at Delmart. There is a ton of info on making the baits on here. Do a serch in the archives and you should be a pro in no time.
  4. Dont do it! you will destroy your mold. Silicone will bond to itself. The mold needs to be a diferent material.
  5. I think the biggest reason is you can buy and use live shiners. Trout, bluegill, and baby bass are illegal and will get you a hefty ticket. Huddleston makes a hitch/shiner color. Its about $42 after shipping . It is a very good bait.
  6. thanks Craig, I recommend getting some pros soft bait glue to make repair es as needed. It will extend the life of all soft swimbaits dramatically. As far as a golden shiner goes, that's on my list but there are about 5 other baits ahead of it. I have no idea when I will get to them because sometimes thing work out great and it only takes a couple months to perfect a bait and other times it can take me a year. When i finally do get around to making one I will send you a prototype to test. I know these are way expensive(about twice as much as mine) but Huddleston makes a great swimbait and he has a golden shiner color. They are 8in. I dint know how big the shiners grow down there but I have caught many a 3lb bass on 8in swimbaits. Fortunately most are bigger than 3lbs though.
  7. cool pic jake! I am glad to hear the baits are working for you!
  8. Thanks Guys, CJ, this is the finished product after about a year of testing and several prototypes. Will, my operation is moving to Georgia. My partner is seting up a shop with a few employes and will be doing all the manufacturing. I will still have my shop here for making new products. Al's and Earthworm, you guys pour beautiful worms so I apreciate the compliments. Texas, I have been acussed once with my bluegill. the ranger said he could give me a ticket and didnt believe me that it was a lure. I had to cast it up on shore for him to see. That was one of my greatest compliments. Sam, they are five inches and I havent weighed them yet. The lead in side is about a 1/2 ounce but the whole bait is probably about an ounce. But because the plastic floats the bait doesnt fish heavy.
  9. They are 5in and the colors are baby large mouth, small mouth, striper, and yellow bass
  10. because unlike salt, sugar burns. Your plastic will tiun amber just like if you burnt the plastic and it will stinck. Not as bad as burnt plastic but it still stinks
  11. yes CJ thats the name of the store.
  12. I use these and they do not get messy. The drops are all the same size. there is a store down here called containers are us or something like that and they have a bunch of diferent sizes. I just wanted to give you guys hope. There is such a thing as a perfect coloring bottle. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v181/Mattlures/DCP_2000.jpg
  13. You can also reinforce you molds by pushing dowels or other things down into your plaster while it is still wet.
  14. Thanks guys, Yeah they catch a few fish but only dinks. Here are some pics. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v181/Mattlures/MattlureBluegill.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v181/Mattlures/DCP_1856.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v181/Mattlures/DCP_1853.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v181/Mattlures/DCP_1367.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v181/Mattlures/DCP_1285.jpg I have about 20 more new pictures that guys sent in of dinks that are being added to my website on top of the current ones. Jake if you have any pics send me one so I can add the famous Woodsac to my site. as for getting into the stores. Mainly Its been word of mouth. We only contacted about 5 stores and the rest contacted us. It actually has been a lot easier selling them than it has been to manufacture them. I Posted on a few Key sites that would reach my target market and after that I have been back ordered for the last 6 months. I have just now got caught up on orders but we have had some reps on standby that we just gave them their samples and a big Magazine is about to hit the stands with an article on our baits. So we will probably be back ordered again. Just so you know it hasn't been all easy. Its a lot of work and after two years we are just starting to pay ourselves. It may seem like fun but believe me its WORK!
  15. Pretty cool huh? http://www.fishingjump.com/ http://www.rakuten.co.jp/bassnile/494078/628398/
  16. You are making me blush  For what its worth I do hand pours too. I prety much make all the soft baits for myself and my friends. They look good but not perfect. There are much better pourers than me(a few on this site). Partly because they are just that good and partly because I dont care if they are all uniform because they are for me and I catch fish on them. I imagine if I was to sell them I would strive for perfect pours though. With so many good brands of hand pours out there you pretty much have to make super clean pours just to be competitive. Just look at Robo's. I do agree with you though. They dont have to be perfect to work and when I am out throwing swimbaits they are usualy the ones with minor flaws in them. Matt
  17. Ok here is how you beat the tax. Only the manufacturer pays the tax. not the retailer or distributor,SOOOOOOOOOO. You make two companies one a manufacturer and the other a distributor or wholesaler or whatever. Then your manufacturing company sells to your other company for 50 cents and your manufacturing co. pays a 5 cent tax and your other company then sells the worms for$3.99 and pays NO excise tax! Its really not that difficult and if you are making decent money it is definitely worth the time. Mattlures are only distributors. They are actually manufactured by Matt&Louie manufacturing. Get it
  18. use a brown permanent marker
  19. never give them any information. you can forward a copy of the email to ebay and they will email you back telling you it is a fake. I just delete them now.
  20. what is the biggest bass ever caught off of one of your baits? what is the biggest bass you caught off of one of your baits? Mike long just caught the biggest for my baits at 15lbs and my best is 12.6lbs here are some pics but I dont have a pic of my 12.6 but I do have a pic of my 11.9lber http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v181/Mattlures/MattlureBluegill15lbs.jpg http://mattlures.com/images/2Big-Fish-Pics-008.jpg
  21. Rodney I like you. You are a great adition to TU. If you think I need some type of protection please send me an email. Thanks Matt
  22. I dont think the mold makers are doing any thing wrong I dont have a problem with a guy trying to save a buck by pouring his own copies. It just bothers me to see them selling them. Why not just create your own. I dont care if a bait is patented or not. I would never copy someone elses bait and sell it. All the info is here on TU. It isnt that hard to create your own style or ideas.
  23. No I dont think anybody has stoll my baits yet. I dont think it would be very cost efective to duplicate my quality. It just takes to much time and they are too labor intensive. Storm may have seen my originals but They still didint steal them. I am not realy woried about them anyways. I think mine are mutch better quality. It just bothers me that people cant make their own. I would like to post tutorials or give up some secrets but there are to many thieves out there. Its sad but true. I do pour worms and Senkos buy I would never even consider selling them. They are not my ideas. I might sell something similar in the future but I would carve my own masters and make my own molds. I dont mean to sound holier then thou but its not that hard to come up with your own Ideas. Think about this. How many diferent typs of creature baits are there? So why copy a Sweet Beaver? just make your own.
  24. I have seen people copy baits and sell them on Ebay. I have read post were somebody got a letter from a compny telling them to stop useing there name. Than I read responses telling him to just switch the first letters of the name around so he wouldnt be using the trademarked name. So the way I see it , You get a mold of SOMEBODY ELSES bait and use a name that looks like or sounds like the original name, That is stealing! Why not make your own design? there is enough information on this site for anybody with a little expeiriance to design and produce thier own baits. now its diferent if you make a Senko copy for your own use, but when you start selling them you are robbing yamamoto. Why not change it a little or even improve it? I am sure this will upset some members but deep down you know I am wright. I read a post from another board where a TU member was saying if could figure out how I paint he would get a mold and copy my baits. That makes me mad! There is a post wright now where somebody stoll some pictures. That is also wrong, but its not nearly as wrong as copying and selling someone elses bait. Now i have heard that everything has been already done before, and that is an excuse to be lazy and just steal somone elses hard work. Its ok to use an idea or make something similar but to outright copy.. That is stealing!
