  1. The drop test is as simple as it sounds. A lead weight will thud when it hits the ground and a zinc weight will ting when it hits the ground. This all being done on concrete.
  2. I know you are doing the stick on weights but you will probably get clip ons to. Be certain to do the drop test and not ruin you lead with zinc clip ons. As far as I know there is not zinc stick on yet but they might come about. O I just burn off the stick ons like most others.
  3. Very good Dave. I think I could whip up those faster that buying new hemostats. Thanks
  4. Thats pretty cool john. I'm happy to see some one else butchering there molds and I like the way it turned out.
  5. There is a chance that the seller melted wheel weights and melted in the zinc weights. If you melt it over a flame in a pot and scoop off the clips you can reach a high enough temp to melt in the zinc, changing the lead.

    Airbrush Gun

For a compressor look at the hardware store and get one you can use to fill your tires to. They go on sale off and on I think I have seen a pancake go for $100.
  9. I third the bug problem. I lost 2 dozen necks about ten years ago. Remember even if you get busy to check you supplies about once a month. Even with all your precaution they sill seam to find a way in there. If you do buy, to be safe stick it in the freezer for three or four days then pull it out and nuke it in the micro. Only for thirty sec up to two min. depending how big it is. If there is any moisture (like a bug) it will cook it. I fill funny adding bug killer to something I'm trying to make appealing to fish. I don't know how the fish is going to act will a pungent oder like bug killer.
  10. Like husky said they break easy. It will be very clear when you fish in the cold. The Cd's I used would separate in layers after they were cut. A stock CD is sealed on the edge better than the inside. To save you frustrations find the hottest your fishing box is going to get and the coldest the water is going to get. PS more than once I have broken ice with the boat to fish or fished frozen rivers that are below freezing. Stick a peace in the freezer the size of lip you are going to use. use a pare of vise grips and clamp the peace if you don't break it then tap it on solid objects to see how much it can take it will warm up quickly, so be fast for a good test. also you might be surprised how hot your box will get I have slacked and melted worms enough to stick together.
  11. peterjay I will supply you with a dumpster as long as I can load it up with every thing but your bench. I will even come out and load it for you! Sounds like I might need to buy a shed to dump it under. But I think I can help you ou t.
  12. I second that, I to own my own business two, and the last thing I would want is to turn this into a job. Especially if there was someone saying this sells better you cant buy that mold there is not enough money it that mold. You cant spend money we don't have enough on the books. I ant going to pay you to test your baits work work work work work work.......... Next thing you know you are inventing ways of production instead of moving froward with you ingenuity on your baits.
  13. No pic. I was just curios if there are blade tweaker out there or am I alone. The blade was to small for the size of the lure. I was trying to get a smaller flash but a slow retrieve so I could get the depth I was after. It was an inline spinner. I even have a spinner with the blade bent in an L shape and it spins. Just brain storming about blade design.
  14. How many of you make a spinner out of speck on purpose. Looking for another action and failed. Having to bend the spinner blade to get it to spin. My question is how do you bend your blades to get them to spin reliably. On the last one I used a blade that was to small and a Colorado blade at that, but I had to burn that baby in to get it to flash. I bent it slightly on one side but more on the bottom opposite of the eye. It helped but now I started another madness and I have blades bent every witch way. How many of your bend your factory blades.
  15. http://www.tackleunderground.com/community/topic/16547-blades-not-spinning-frustration/page__fromsearch__1 This should help on this question. There are 4 pages of good info. I learned alot from it and look at spinner baits in 2 ways now.
  16. I love the hook limiter! Another great bait thank you for taking the time to share. I can here the dinner bells know. Kelly

    The Right Pvc

Mine has no name on it, but go to home depot or any hardware store. Go to the trim department the stuff you use for floor boards or crown molding. Look at all the pressed board stuff and keep looking when you get to the brick trim it will say 100% PVC no rotting. Use as outdoor trim. You can get up to 2x2 or 1x8 or 1x6 even half round and about 8 foot or 12 foot long. Not in big lumber that I have seen so did not look there. The stuff is pretty cool.
  19. To me it depends where I am fishing. If I am at lakepowell I prefer size 2 up to 3/0. some of the crappers hit the 2 pound range. At most other lakes they are smaller so I go with smaller hooks 4 and 6. The size you need is what ever matches you fish in your lake and change it if you go to another body of water. Buy the way on a hard ice fishing day, I have gone down to a size 10 and started catching fish.
  20. Nice up date Husky. I like the idea of printing right on the foil threw the tissue paper. Maybe keeping more ink for the pic. Defining the colors a little more.
  21. Any new top coat I find and want to try I coat a raw peace of wood. Let it cure for the recommended time then drop it in a mason jar fill it with water and let it sit. You might be surprised how much some lacquers turns white. Epoxy is pretty safe in my tests. If some one tests the concrete lacquer could you post the results. I would be interested if it lasts and if that works, cut a crack in the side of wood and see if the water leaking in separates the wood from the lacquer. I have lost a few good lures to that kind of leak.

    Soot

A cheap candle with a wick (the string that burns) in it.
  23. Two other things that you can try that i have used is. Find some netting used as scale panting (netting) material then lay it flat on a peace of wax paper(this will help it release latter). get some silicone, I use the auto stuff thats used for gaskets. Paint it on the netting with a brush leaving what you want painted uncovered and leaving a few random dots open for the paint to pass threw. Let it dry and remove from the wax paper then clean the wax off with alcohol so the wax will not mess with your paint. clamp it on and spray two colors that are close to each other to make it more life like. The second is take your milk carton or paper and put it on a peace of foam. Start punching holes with a couple things. Nails, pins, knife or any thing you can think of and use that as a stencil. I have used riped paper and liked it. but so simple I have not used riped tape used tape but not ripped tape so simple I walked right past it.
  24. I have the same it is amazing how much control you have even when you suck at painting. It also lowers the learning curve on learning how to use a brush and the things you can do with a brush. PS try to write you name like its a pen its pretty cool.
