  1. So, if someone were to make a "custom" pot, how would it be different? I am not trying to sound stupid, just wondering what would be different about a "plastisol pot." I just hope to be making enough baits to NEED a Presto one day.
  2. I would say that Bear is probably a far superior machinst to me... since I'm not a machinist, but a hack. LOL. On the other hand I was making my own molds and teaching myself how to make them better several years ago. - Bob
  3. Yes sir, 1:1. It did KILL the action because of the stiffness. I also did as you mentioned, and made the legs without microspheres and the body with microspheres. This does work, but it is hard to get the colors uniform. Now, if you want, say, a black frog with Chartreuse legs, this technique works great.
  4. Ya'll are gonna get a good thread locked and deleted. Bear has really brought out a very unique, neat product. I think a thread like this has potential to be good for Bear, and end-users. Several individuals on here are machinists to some degree, and I would think that Bear would appreciate their input (good or bad).
  5. I have used them, still have some. In order to make them float a 4" frog with a frog hook, I had to mix 1:1. You read that right, 1:1. You can go 1:4 or so if you just want to float tails. The micro spheres will stiffen the baits, and will make them white (unless you add a ton of color, and, of course, the baits will NOT be translucent), and you definitely need to have a good mask on when working with them.
  6. Looks like a neat product for the guys making baits as a 2nd income, or guys with a lot of molds. If I was that big, I would be looking at purchasing one of these units. However, I am just small potatos and have maybe a dozen injection molds, so I am not ready for something this extravagant. Bear has a great idea here, I am sure he will sell a bunch of sets.
  7. Last year's "shipper" is now in a partnership with Strike King... http://www.advancedangler.com/industrynews.asp?SelectValue=Strike%20King%20Signs%20with%20Shyne%20Agency
  8. I still think your hard master is going to lock into the resin. Have you thought about RTV?
  9. I just use Alumilite Quick Set. I can find it at Hobby Lobby, and I usually have a 40% off coupon.
  10. No worries. Just didn't want you to get frustrated trying to find a mold. Several of the mold makers have some pretty close.
  11. NOPE. That pic is off of Zoom's website. http://zoombait.com/2009/05/arkansas-shiner/
  12. Pic? Long answer: depends on the type of bait/mold. Bob's answer is good, if the bait is a hollowbelly. If the mold going to be an open pour? Injection? Coreshots are easy with an injection mold.
  13. Simple answer....Heated TOO FAST. I NEVER have bubble issues, but then I leave my microwave on 75% when heating.
  14. Every shipment I have received from them has been in the standard 2.5 gallon jugs. I've never had a 5 gallon bucket. Oh, and I always order at least 5 gallons of Pourasol Medium, sometimes 10.
  15. Bear's ORIGINAL Kodiak is very similar.
  16. I picked up some hand injected toad baits today. Initially, I thought they looked like Del's toad mold, but the more I look at them, the more the feet remind me of the claws on a Shawn Collins mold I have. That being said, my question is...Did Shawn ever make a Toad Mold? Part 2 of the question, if he did, where can I get one?
  17. It is also perfect for making the eyes on the ends of Umbrella Rig wires.
  18. BassTackle.com's Blending Blocks are the BOMB. Well worth the small investment. I personally have 4.
  19. Spike-It Pourasol is ALL THAT I USE. Oh, did I mention, I microwave? I don't even own a Presto. I absolutely LOVE the stuff. If you are going to nuke, make sure to go slow, and bubbles are not a problem. JM2C
  20. It pulls out very easily, and it doesn't tear the tail. I had the 1st one that was made over there. It worked great, I just didn't really find a need for it, so I sold it.
  21. All I use is Lureworks Pourasol Medium. I nuke it, and have not had an issue since I learned to heat it slower. I have gone through 12.5 gallons so far with no issues. I love it. Low smell, excellent clarity, great durability, cures quickly. That said, everybody does have their own favorite. What works for some, does not for others, etc. Try them all and decide based on YOUR results.
  22. Basstackle: http://www.basstackle.com/Pot_Belly_Shad_p/potbellyshadmold.htm Bear's: http://www.bearsbaits.com/Hollow-Body-Swim-Bait--45_p_26.html Both hollow, both injected, both 4".
  23. Personally, I love the Lureworks Plastsols. I use the Pourasol Medium EXCLUSIVELY. Yes, there are microbubbles if heating too fast, or over stirring. I might point out that I ONLY microwave my pourasol (I don't even own a presto or Lee Pot.) NEVER have I seen it degrade, and I have NO CLUE what temp I'm getting the plastic up to, because I don't own an infrared thermometer. I heat until it looks right, and stirs right. Never had any problems.
