  1. Yeah. Don't touch the shiny silver piece... I've done thousands over the years and never been bit but gotta pay attention. Not a time to be drinking lol.
  2. Thanks for the input. I'm kinda embarrassed to to post a pic of what I came up with after seeing video of workshop above lol. Here's what I came up with and actually works great. It's hooked up to a 2 HP dust collector. Did 300 PVC lures with it so far and hardly a spec of dust. Usually looks like a snow storm!
  3. Anyone here ever come up with effective solution for dust collection when rounding over flat sided baits on router table?
  4. I have been using the GMC Syclone 6310 compressor for last 3 years. By far one of the best quiet compressors for the money. Comes with built in regulator and moisture trap that work well also. As far as airbrush, the gravity feed Eclipse is great for thicker waterbased paints. I like the Paasche VL's much better for solvent based paints, seals are more compatable. I am spraying all lacquers and auto clears (twitch, twitch) on around 5000 baits a year. All VL's are still ticking and multiple Eclipses in the repair pile. Add the fact that they are one of the more reasonably priced brushes out there and easy to get parts for locally makes it hard to beat for me.
  5. Woodie, when you say "gas off" the foam, are you letting it set for an extended period of time or something else? Also any primer that you have found to be better with the foams?
  6. Anyone tried the Hagen's 1 part foam mentioned in the sticky above? How does it compare to the 2 part urethane? Been away from the molding awhile , but I think I am ready for another round with it, Thanks for any info. Cliff Alleycat Lures
  7. These are 100# test and have worked great for me. Brad and Sons are very good to deal with. 5 1/2H STAINLESS STEEL SPLIT RINGS 100LB TEST QTY 100 - eBay (item 330304845246 end time Mar-03-09 08:47:59 PST) Cliff

    Top Secret

I tried it awhile back and was pretty disappointed. Very thin and was not very hard. May be a top secret to applying it, but I could not come up with it. Anyone here tried this yet ... http://www.alleycatlures.com' rel="external nofollow">
  9. Hey Lisa, welcome aboard !! I have had my lures at some shows and banquets in the last few weeks and the first comment I get when someone walks up is "COOL EYES"! You have been great to deal with, I'm sure you will be getting a lot of orders from this board. Cliff www.alleycatlures.com
  10. John, The stuff will not prevent tooth puntures, but it will not soak up water and expand/contract like wood or gain water weight after multiple toothy fish. Machines very much the same as wood, even a little easier. Sort of like using wood that is sealed from the inside out. Cliff www.alleycatlures.com
  11. All of my lures are made out of this now. Great stuff and very durable. Be careful with the Home Depot/Lowes PVC trim boards though, they do not take impact well. Had a glider completely snap in half where the weight holes were that was accidently cast into the rocks on the bank (don't think you would have this problem on a fish, but not worth the risk). To get the good stuff you have to break down and buy a 4x8 sheet but most sign/plastic suppliers will have a small sample piece you can test out. The great part about this stuff for pike and muskie is that tooth punctures don't matter anymore! Cliff www.alleycatlures.com
  12. Had the same problem a few years ago before they even hit the water. I made up a few for a charity lure auction and spent hours painting and putting special logos on them. Was walking out the door to the auction, picked up the lures, and they had blisters under the e-tex. They took a last ride into a block wall and that was the last of my 16# foam days. Funny thing was that I had done several others before with no problem and the same curing times. Cliff www.alleycatlures.com
  13. Same girl I get my Cat Eyes from. Great to deal with! Cliff www.alleycatlures.com

    dust filters

Jed, I have been looking for the same thing. Seems like I spend more time cleaning up than making lures !! I'm sure the grizzly is probably made better but harbor freight has one just over $80 that is also 1hp that I have thought about. The biggest mess is from my upside down router. Not sure if one of these would help or not... http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/ctaf/displayitem.taf?Itemnumber=94029 Cliff www.alleycatlures.com
  15. I had the same problems as "terrydabassman" with the 16# shopmaninc foam. Even after curing for a week some would get blisters. I was also spending way more time preparing these lures to paint than a wood one. Cliff .alleycatlures.com
