If you have or can lay hands on a propane fish cooker, get a cast iron pot and melt the stuff down out doors. All the burning will go into the wind and you can dip off the gunk and ladle the lead into ingots. That is a lot easier than using the lead pot and only doing a few pounds at a time.
I bought white, red, and yellow from HF. I have mixed it with Pro Tec and had not problems.
I don't know how it holds up because where I throw jigs they don't last long enough for the paint to chip.
You probably have cruddy lead that has some stuff partly blocking the hole. If you have a propane torch, heat up the tip for a few seconds (with something to catch the lead) then open the spout. Most of the time that will allow the gunk to flow out.
I'm not the sharpest nail in the box I fully admit. I have recieved some pms lately and they pop up when I enter this site. I can read them but when I go back to the forums I can never find out how to get back to reread messages.
I used the help menu and found it to not help me so I guess I can't follow directions any more. So a little guidance would be greatly appreciated by me and the guy who has sent me pms and can't find his either.
In advance thank you.
Cadman thanks for the pics. It was like I had pictured in my mind but just wanted to be sure. One of the shops in Springfield has them so when the snow melts, I'm gonna give my PTs a new look.
This morning I dug out my 20 year old hot plate and did some temp testing. It will get to what ever temp I want with a little dialing. The new one is pure junk and going on a deep six trip.
That I scorched a lot of translucents when I was using my Wally World hot plate. I got a better than good deal on an infrared thermometer today and tried it out on that little sucker. Barely on it was 97° just a bit more and it was 467°. I think I'm going to DEEP6 that worthless piece of crap.
Will it polute the lake if I sink it in 165 fow.
