  1. what i suggest is lower the pull screw. install on anupward angle.. i am computer stupid. i build daily but cant even post pictures.. . as stated assuming the lip is straight its fine. it appears to be cut near 45 degrees., which is good for a medium dive. send me your e-mail i can forward a picture to show you from my files.
  2. we use lathe duplicaters. what really depends is body shapes of lures. you can use bandsaws/routers/and for the reel dream a cnc.
  3. hi there. heres my humble opinion. the lip is too long to realation of pull screw. that causes roll. normally we install the pull screw lower down with 1 inch max from screw to lip end. another thing is the belly hook should be moved forward, which will help as ballast. or try a larger treble.. try this i bet it will help your adventure.
  4. we use the squre lips on our cranks for musky. not creating controversy but lip angles along with lure weights are a big factor here. another variable is legnth from pull tie.. the major preference is a lure that walks side to side without blo-out at desired speeds .. on a larger model we have a fall 11 inch bait with a rounded lip. its counter-balanced and dives to 29ft with 40ft of line out, trolling at 3.5mph. the variables create depth and wobble along with lip factors. no easy etched in stone deal here.
  5. most are cedar. heres what we do for our minnee mee/woodies. insert wire thru lip. . body blank. drilled thru. the wire goes completly thru the lure. on tuff shads when they were wood and others the concept is. wire thru lip to belly /ballast. that wire is held from lead belly ballast. then they use screws thru the lead belly ballast and into the tail end. we prefer 0.62 wire thru.. hope this helps you out.
  6. hi. we use paasche h brush. 50lbs pressure. works well for baits. if you need a larger spray pattern. go to a binks touch up gun.
  7. on plastic lures and some wooden re-paints. we use automotive clear. the mix is 4 to 1. you need ventilation system. it sprays very well. dry to touch 45 minutes. full cure in hours. normally its approx 35 bucks a quart including activaters.. clean up for airbrush is standard lacquer thinners sprayed thru the tip. we use a paasche h brush with a nu.5 tip at 50lbs spray. hope this helps.. oh ya this clear does not yellow. we have 20 year old paintjobs that are still gin clear.
  8. we started years ago. back in the day cranks were expensive and un available in canada. . in short we can build, create special things for our musky needs. i am sure everyone has a secret or pet lure they use.
  9. sharpies and other markers are what we call death. if you are going to re-paint that lure it will bleed. we re-paint lures as a custom service. we will not re-paint sharpie covered lures.
  10. we spray clears on smaller walleye sizeed lures. plastics can be cleared with thinner coats. automotive clears. on larger wooden lures for pike and muskies we brush epoxy clears. on larger baits the weights from clears truly have no balance or floatation effects... i am sure on smaller bass lures weight balance has more effect then clearcoats.
  11. very good idea. thanks for sharing yet another great idea.
  12. hi. if your painting plastic cranks heres my process. we use auto clear. put autoclear in cup mix component glitter in with ball bearings. shake to have the glitter mixed. i spray at 40lbs thru a paasche h brush. nu.5 tip. the clarity is stunning and you have excellent adhesion. . theres no glitter creep this way. hope this helps someone.

  14. on some apps we use auto clears. definatly vent out any smells or fumes.. best to be on the same side. unles you want a buzz and damage brain cells
  15. everyone has touched on this subject and added good thoughts. there is no true miracle lure .every day or weather pattern shift creates different scenarios. one comment for baits that hunt .HOW TRUE.. lake st clair seems to be the most color sensitive lake we have seen. as for baits, if they have that magic action it will make a great day,. thats why we build our magic bullets. or they could be tommorows firewood. great topic guys.
  16. Action first then color. fishing lures you need to figure where in the water column. we mainly fish muskies here. . we have some lures with literally no paint left. its the wobble that is the deciding factor. the above post are alll correct. speed temps. i look at the whole deal as positve neutral negative.
  17. whatever it takes to keep customers happy. we have replaced broken lures after 30 muskies were caught on it. . a little goodwill goes a long way in a competive market place. we once had one come back with tire tracks on it. we replaced it. at the end of the day you only have your name...... protect it.
