  1. I have been using super glue gel and it seems to work pretty well. Don't get the regular thin super glue, it is messy and wicks up the fibers. The gel is easy to control, holds well and cures fairly quickly.

I've fished it a couple times, but I'm not real familar with it. Try this website: http://www.nwbasser.com/portal.php Quite a few of these guys fish it.

    reapers

I do real well drop shotting 3" reapers. Just nose hook them with #4 drop shot hook, look for a school of fish on your locator and drop it down on them. When you feel your sinker hit bottom, give it a little slack and wiggle the reaper lightly. Pause ocassionally. Watch your line!

OK, the mold is a Spinner Jig Model: SJ-4-A Sizes 1/4, 5/16, 7/16 and 3/8 oz. It is in good condition and I would sell it for $15 plus shipping. I can e-mail pictures of the mold if you send me an e-mail. sday@speedyquick.net
  5. I bought some 1/8" dowel material, cut it into 1/2" pieces and use it to plug the holes. As soon as I pull the jighead out of the paint, I pull the dowel piece. I can usually get 10 - 12 jigheads per piece of dowel.

I got home late last night and them spaced off looking at the mold; I will do it tonight. I'm thinking it is the a bullet type in 1/4, 3/8 and 1/2 oz. I bought a package deal off e-bay because I needed 2 of the 4 molds; one of the extras was a spinnerbait mold.
  7. What type of spinnerbait mold? How much do you want to spend? You might want to post this in the Trading Post Forum... All that said, I might have an extra SB mold at home; I will look when I get home.
  8. I found a Mustad 90748BR that looks like a replacement, but it is a bronze hook too. You need to find 90748BLN hooks.... Barlow's and Capt. Hook don't have them; I found the bronze hooks on Hagen's website.
  9. Second the TJ's Tackle... that's where I have been buying my paint.
  10. I haven't seen any that thick. Why won't the 0.051" work? That is 500 lb test wire...
  11. I replied to your post on BFHP. I don't know if this is what you want, but living rubber.com has silicone skirt pads in this color: MPF19: Clear/Red, Blue, Silver Flake

They will sell to you without the tax number, but they will add the 10% to the total. You can't just give them your number either, you have to FAX / send them a copy of your 637 form. (I think that's the form #)
  13. The Tailspinner forms are 0.028" diameter and 1.92" long. They are shorter than I remembered; all I remembered is that they hung down below the mold and I had to move the mold support bar on the lead pot.
  14. Thanks for the article! Can you add a section that includes adjusting and maintenance of your fluid beds? Sometimes mine works great, other times I get the dreaded volcanos...
  15. I have some of the forms at home; I will try to remember to mic some out and post the diameter. It is fairly thin wire; I guessing it is i the neighborhood of 0.030". The form is about 4 or 5" long; again I will measure & post.
  16. I might be interested in a buy for silicone skirt pads or living rubber.
  17. You don't heat jigheads to paint with vinyl paint; you do heat them to paint with powder paint because the powder basically melts to the heated surface.
  18. I've seen guys drop shotting the smallie beavers; nose hook them in open water, Texas rig them around weeds.
  19. Neat video; nice fat perch too.
  20. I bought one of dayooper's fluid beds off of e-bay and like it a lot! It works much better that putting the lid back on the paint jar and shaking it every 3 or 4 jigs to keep the paint fluffy. I also bought a couple of extra cups from him so that I could keep my highest usage paints in the cups instead of having to pour back into the containers every time I switch colors.
  21. The Poison Tail molds don't need modified; they are already sized for pretty big hooks and I haven't had any problems putting hooks 1 size up in them without modification. I have both the small mold that does 1/8, 1/4 and 3/8 oz and the big mold that does 1/2, 3/4 and 1 oz. The recommended hooks are pretty big for their size plus they are extra wide gapped.
  22. They basically fluff up the powder paint so that it will apply more evenly to the jigheads or whatever you are painting. They do it by applying very small air bubbles through the bottom of the fluid bed, so that they lift the powder paint as they rise through it. Some fluid beds also vibrate to add to their effectiveness. I paint jigheads up to 1 oz. in my small fluid bed; it seems like there is plenty of room to do bigger baits. The 4 oz. jigs might be pushing it; depends on the style & length.
  23. Find someone that reloads ammo and use their powder scale to weigh the jigs. (unless they are over 1 oz. )

    I NEED 200 JIGS

Price is dependant on what you want; see below. If you want plain jigheads, they would be ready by the time I got the money order. If you paid with PayPal, I could have the jigheads in the mail by Tuesday. If you want them painted it would take an addition 3 - 4 days. What hooks do you want? I have an "S" style arkie jig mold that is probably close to the Eakins jigs and it has 5/16 and 7/16 oz sizes. I have some heavy Mustad flipping hooks (32786BLN) in black nickel and some VMC Barbarian black hooks that fit that 60 degree mold. I have both the longer jig shank football jig mold that has the skirt collar and the keeper barb and the older short shank style with just the barb. These take 90 degree hooks; I have the Matzuo Sickle hooks in both bronze and black nickel, Mustad 32746BLN hooks in black nickel and the Eagle Claw 574 long shank jig hooks in bronze. Do you want them plain or painted? If interested, send me an e-mail at sday@speedyquick.net
  25. That is a tough one! I think that it depends on what type of cover the jigs are fished in: the 0.024 stiffer weedguards for trees and brush and the lighter 0.018 weedguards for light weed and grass. 0.021 for all-around fishing? I made some Poison Tail jigs with the 0.018 weedguards; I had a couple people that really liked the lighter fibers and a couple that said they didn't like them because they were too light for fishing in the trees.
