  1. Pretty darn decent job there buddy . I wish those ball molds came in smaller sizes to . I'd like to have them from 1/16 to 3.0 oz. You can make a mean set of spinners from them . Talk about a fluke killing machine . Just add a torpedo shaped lure body a clevis with a blade between that head and hook . Then hang on its going to hit the fan .
  2. Hey Bro . just about any shad colored crank works in OK. water . Flipping jigs are a personal choice thing . They have been fishing those monster worms like 14'' jobs. There is one lake in Ok. that is a color specific place That's little muddy Hudson lake . Safe bet there is blue/white anything . If you have a nice boat stay out of that stump infested hole unless you take someone that knows the place .
  3. Oh yea epoxy epoxy epoxy . Best thing to do is put epoxy on first then primer then color then epoxy .
  4. I've made inline spinners up to 3.5 and 4 oz. inline spinners . the same standard colors you fish on anything else can be applied to spinners . It's mostly an individual taste . Give it a go .
  5. That is along the line I was trying to form in my head . I think you broke my brain drain . Lazy Susan turn style with removable sections for transfer and ease of cleaning . I think a trip to the scrap yard is in order . For me it beats heck out of Disney Land .
  6. I'm coming up on a sort of a pain project . I have to Paint a lot of spoons . Now this is normally no problem . This time though I have strict quality issues . Lately I seem to be suffering from brain block . So I'm asking for help from the great thinking guru's here . Here is the problem . I need to do about 100 at a time both sides and keep them from moving while I spray . Then at the same time I need to keep the holes in the spoon clear of paint. Next I need the rack/holder to be heat resistant and one that powder will not load up on when cured . I will be using an electrostatic spray gun . Toss something at me guy's . Any thoughts suggestions ANYTHING might help me break this brain block I have .
  7. If I were going to do it I'd get two molds one for the worm and one for the tips . some molds are set up to do that . I think Bears has one .
  8. You will be reading a while . No where in the world I know of can you find more knowledge on tackle than here , But be ware some of these guys have brains so big its pushing their hair out by the roots . Just get them to take their hats off and you'll see what I mean . Sometimes you don't know if they are discussing Quantum physics or the velocity of the water vortex in the lavatory . Welcome to our wacky world .
  9. About the only time I use epoxy on trailers and streamers is when I want to build a hard shell body up around the thread . Then I put eyes and the like on it giving it a Jig/fly look With a minimal weight added .
  10. The pic does not show it but that is a folded template slide the lure in pinch it together .You can eye both sides at once . The guy I did this for was completely happy with the result . If one of you thinks of a way to take this to another level Post up . I love it when I can get someone to think outside the box.
  11. The best thing I can think of for the poles is to get a couple of long tubes like maps or posters go in to store them . Go to any hardware store and pick up some stuff called Tung oil . Coat the poles and let them air dry Keeping them straight . Then store them . That is what I do to store hard wood arrow shafts .
  12. Thanks I like to use the kiss method . Its what I tell myself every time I start a project . KISS - Keep It Simple Stupid . I tend to get carried away now and then .
  13. Generally Worth will sell 500 with a percentage discount the more you buy . I've used worth all my life and I'm getting a little long in the tooth now .
  14. Won't use something like that much more than once . It will eventually collapse . It is better if you just keep an eye out in the classifieds here . 40 bucks will probably get you one eventually . The medical bills for plastic burns are going to cost you a lot more . Just ask Carolina Mike and he is a professional . One goof can get Ya .
  15. I won't be buying any new mold from them . Why because I'm a cheap skate I will not pay the kind of money they want for those hooks or any of the other over priced hooks on the market . Secondly anything I own better be able to function with more than one hook style and be useful for as many species of fish as I can squeeze out of it . Versatility is the name of the game for me .
  16. Does anyone know what chemical or chemicals are used to retard drying when spraying vinyl paint . Would like to get it local without ordering .
  17. A fellow approached me about a problem he was having with some of his tackle . When he had it made the eyes and shad dots were never even close to the same spot from lure to lure . So I set about turning my wacky brain to a cure . After some chanting and deep meditation assisted by a beer . I came up with this . From god knows where I had a sheet of .010 aluminum laying around the shop . I folded it located where the eyes should go and then took a paper hole punch and popped out the locator holes . Then I had a couple pieces or soft rubber I use for various tasks around the shop . I placed the lure in the foil laid a block of rubber under and over this set up . Put it in the press and the resulting template was a success . No more miss aligned eyes . Hear it tis .
  18. Exactly what is on the molds . Dirt corrosion of some kind . As far as the hinges you can just use WD40 light coating but make sure there is not some kind of crap in the hinge grooves . Lead molds I clean with a mixture of salt and tooth paste and one of the sturdy denture brushes . Then just wash it off with distilled water . You can dry them fine in the hot sun . Got plenty of that these days . Plastic molds I just use acetone and a extra fluffy rag so I get into the cavities . Once in a while I manage to spill some straight colorant on or in a mold . Can't always get it out by shooting plastic so to avoid contamination just clean the durn thing .
  19. Thanks guys I'll check it out . Longest worm type I have is 9'' . But I do have 8 and 10 inch swim baits .
  20. Don't do it ! you'll get sucked in to the addiction . Then you'll need to go to those darn intervention classes . Just kidding see you in class . LOL
  21. If I WASN'T NECK DEEP IN WORK I COULD FIX YOU UP . ABOUT THE ONLY THING i DON'T DO IS CRANK BAITS . I WORK WITH YOU UNTIL YOU HAVE EXACTLY WHAT YOU NEED. I DON'T TRY TO KILL YOU ON PRICING .
  22. Gotta come to the experts to ask this . What is the best swim bait or any other plastic for big fish down in the south . Trying to help a friend before he goes there to fish . He will be fishing big water and inland .
  23. There is a tool used to put castration bands on calves . looks like it would work . I use red O rings they don't rot , stand about any temp will stretch a long way . So one size fits several sizes .
  24. I found it necessary to use vinyl paint for a customer . Haven't used it for years . Went to order some pint cans of the stuff and found that several suppliers don't have it now . Anybody hear any rumors on Components System paint . Like maybe having to order Quantity paint direct .
  25. This time of year it could have a lot to do with heat as well . Me being the knot head I am I forgot to take some powder paint out of my car sitting in the hot sun . I could have fired it out of a cannon . Watch out for mail boxes too if you live rural . Juast one slip up and its over .
