    Jitter Type 3"

I love them both. My wife was telling me of the method that is used to do fingernails this way, sounds hard to achieve these patterns.
  2. Sorry, never tried it but the description sounds ideal for sealing them (especially balsa).
  3. My Solarez was supposed to be delivered yesterday, can't wait to check it out. Now if I can get Fedex straightened out, I might get it before I go back to work. lol.
  4. I've built balsa baits with just long twisted wire hangers, and so far the only failure that I've had was when I hung it in a tree top and pulled the boat to it (To experiment with the strength of the bait of course. lol). I straightened a front hook and cracked the wood around the lip. So for bass, I don't see a need for a thru wire. In other words, I agree with Bob.
  5. I haven't tried one yet, but my boss swears by them. He is supposed to bring me a couple for me to paint for a tourney.
  6. I don't always get it thinned perfectly, and only paint 4 - 5 baits at a time so the small quantities work great for me. Thanks for sharing.
  7. I like to use empty food coloring bottles to store and drop small quantities of thinned and custom mixed paint. I usually mix/thin in one of the small jars that came with my airbrush kit (I use my gravity fed for everything) then use an eye dropper to transfer the paint into the clean food coloring bottles. Slide a finger nail under the the dropper top and pull it out for cleaning or to add paint. You can then just shake the bottle and drop and add only as much as you need to your airbrush cup. Put the lid back on and its good till the next time that you need it. Please feel free to share your method or containers.
  8. I wish that I could be there. It is my goal to make it to one of these get together's one day. Have fun, and thanks to all for such a great forum.
  9. I buy my Lexan at Lowe's. But I would like to know where to buy the G-10 at myself.
  10. Scuff the entire surface with fine grit sand paper and re-coat them. I don't used the devcon but it has worked for my 2t epoxy in the past.

    Funky Gill

Very nice! I gotta go check out that video.
  12. Love it! There is soooo much we can do in the form of lures. With a little Imagination, the sky is the limit.
  13. Happy Thanksgiving to all!!

    black n white craw.

I was looking for a way to make them more "trustworthy" without a through wire harness. I have made a couple with just twisted wire hangers in the tail that I fish quite often and never had a problem, but this was for a friend at work and I didn't want to take a chance with the back hook pulling out.

    Purple shad

I got some purple paint and had to play around with it a little. Bass wood crank.

    black n white craw.

Love to "play" angles and widths. It dives around 4 -5 ft with a tight action. This one is balsa with a pine dowel in the tail and a one banger rattle.

    Woods?

Thanks, I will have to seek some out to give it a try. I love seeing the different actions of different woods and different building processes as well.

    Woods?

I personally like/prefer cedar because there is no need for through wire harnesses, and I like the smell. I like Bass wood because again no through wire harness. I like white pine for its wide, lazy action. Still learning about Balsa with a dowel in the tail but I do like the lively action that it gives you. Haven't tried PVC yet but it is on my to do list.

My craw pattern in black and white.

    8 ball

I think that would have came out better. maybe moved the cues back a little and the balls for eyes.

    9 ball

This is the other one that was done for my friend at work!

    8 ball

I had a request from a friend at work and this is what I came up with. Carved from bass wood, lexan lip, twisted hook hangers/ line tie. Pool cues are crossed on the back.
  23. I made my first one the other day. I took a cedar branch, cut it in half. then cut a couple notches that my Lexan would fit snugly, cut out the lexan with "v" shapes in the middle and glue them in the notches. Now I have a rustic looking lure display stand for pennies on the dollar. Good luck on your projects and hopefully I can help sometime in the future after I get caught up on all the other promises that I've made.
  24. Very interesting concept. One ? though. When dragging it over and through cover, does it hang up or deflect? Just wondering since the lip helps against snags a lot on a diving bait.
