  1. I actually got to meet the owner of Tj'sTackle at the Detroit Fishing Expo yesterday. He showed how to dip jigs and paint spinner blades with an airbrush using only an aquarium air pump & heat gun.. The finish is baked on in a toaster oven and is quite glossy after. No top coat needed. Very impressive results.
  2. Milky white/clear with a reflective back. All I know is they look good every time I see them..lol.

Createx & Epoxy. Wanted a brighter blue and grey bait so used some iridescent purple over wicked blue with some aluminum pearl for the sides.Bottom pearl white with a red to orange to yellow belly. One of these days I'll learn to take better pictures!

Thanks Braided Line, One thing I'm guilty of is spending a lot of time painting each bait. I enjoy it and just paint for myself so it all works out
  7. Those baits look great tek. I've been messing around with it myself. Obsessed with trying to crack the code. Even though we've come close with the lufa, I'm still not convinced. The uniformity of his scales is hard to match. A new tool in the bag though for future baits :-)
  8. Google-Reef Runner 800 and Rapala Deep husky jerk if he's looking for a great trolling bait. Use a lot of Original floaters handlining as well. Shouldn't be that big of a deal..Shad or minnow shaped. He can take any bait to the depth he wants running snap weights, lead core, down riggers and so on.

Bbman, I'm still experimenting with dips and time to wait. I like that it's thin but shiny and simple to use. Don't like how a second or third coat extends the cure time to weeks. Being able to dip the entire bait is great.

Createx paints, cement sealer topcoat.Just trying out different color schemes and mesh.Actually epoxied it first and was cleaning out an eyelet & the epoxy peeled off like rubber! Must've used too much alcohol. Still learning

  12. That bottom one is killer.

Createx paint,Gst finish. Continue to just keep spraying to get better. Had some paint bleed issues on this one but still is fishable so I'm happy. Tried some different stripes which I don't like now..lol..but they're on there. Mainly doing different experiments with undercoats & top coats and patterns while I'm putting time in painting. Every so often I don't ruin one and turns out pretty good..Making progress!
  19. I'll have to check into that baseball. I figure the basement is around 60-65 degrees..It happens almost instantly. These are hollow plastic cranks if that makes a difference.
  20. Merry Christmas. Enjoy your family & friends. Be safe!
  21. Yeah that particular bait the bleeding gill turned out ok but just hate surprises in this stage of the game. I'm a newbie at painting so learning as I go. I'm finally making some progress painting now and the top coat is the next puzzle. Epoxy I like but have about a 50% screw up rate. On a side note for anyone interested, I did a test. I dipped in gst...then epoxied...then dipped in gst with no ill effects. I wanted to see if there would be some sort of reaction.
  22. To be on the safe side I have been using a quick coat of acrylic enamel on everything. I personally don't like the createx clear, it gums up my iwata. I will try the acrylic enamel. I just recently tried the Createx clear over some sharpie gills and that bled as well with the Gst. Your so right about that stuff gumming up the gun. Just bought a big bottle too.
