Skirt Pliers Help

Recommended Posts

I have a pair or set of 3 prong expanding pliers for making skirts that I have missplaced.  I know there are many different methods of making skirts, but for me, these are the easiest to use while making them up in the boat.  Who has them?  Where can I get spares?  Thanks

Way back in the day about 10+ years ago, BPS used to sell the original "SkirtMaster" pliers. At that time I bought three sets. The guy who originally made these has long retired, and BPS no longer carries them. However you can get the newer version of their pliers from their website. Here is the link.     http://www.skirtmaster.com/

I have used this for years, and it works great:

I pass the jaws of a pair of tweezers through from the back, pinch the skirt tabs double, and use the tweezers to pull them back through the band.

I use a small O ring now instead of the rubber band (thank you whoever it was here on TU who shared that tip), because I wire my skirts on, so I can just roll the O ring back off the hook when I've wired the skirt, and reuse the O ring over and over.
