  1. See your one and raise you four. http://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B0063GL7UM?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o09_s00 Much better deal and they work quite well.
  2. Spent the afternoon rounding up all my hooks and all the other stuff one needs to keep Do-It molds going. Ended up filling 8 Plano 3700 series boxes. But at least I know what I have and where it's at.
  3. Just found that Barlow's has Eagle Claw 635 hooks in black pearl. I'm going there tomorrow to pick some up! Walking Dead, Say you wanted to stick with the 7150 hook. Take some red RTV and put a small amount in each cavity where the eye of the hook goes. Liberally dust all the RTV with talcum powder. Now place the hook in the mold, more talcum powder. Now close the mold and clamp it shut. Wait 24 hours, blow the talcum powder out and remove the hooks. You've just customized the mold for that hook.
  4. The mold uses a #3 eye for the line tie. Can't say on the bottom pour as I've never gone that heavy. You'll need a HOT mold and a good pot to even attempt it. No Lee pot would pour fast enough.
  5. Eagle Claw 730. Barlow's generally has a list of hooks that will fit in each mold on their website. If not you can call and they'll check for you.
  6. The most use my Dremels get is cleaning out hook eyes. They make some small drills that fit the Dremel and they work like a champ to clear eyes.
  7. Should add one thing. You're going to want that outside loop almost buried in the body of the jig. If you've got the wire shaft sticking outside the body of the jig then you've got a failure point due to the wire bending back and forth on a big fish. This means you're going to have to modify the mold so there's room for the loop. You really might want to look at Shawn Collins' molds. He may have what you're looking for. In fact his Bel Mojo could be exactly what you're looking for. http://shawncollinscustoms.net/jigs2.htm#BelJig
  8. Best bet would be to use some .062 wire. Put a loop on each end. The end going into the jig I would also bend the loop at say a 45° angle for additional holding power.
  9. I pour that mold all the time with my RCBS. Of course most of the molds that Do-It says should be done with a ladle work quite well with my RCBS. That pot can put out a lot more lead than a Lee.
  10. Or craft/hobby shops. That thin wall metal tubing is not hard to find at all.
  11. You're not going to need really heavy wire. Tuna jigs only have .051 through wire. The heavier the wire the harder it will be to bend. 1/16" wire is .0625 and it's VERY hard to work with.
  12. Best bet would be to sell it to bullet casters. They will pay very good money for it.
  13. There's nothing dodgy about the loop or the wire.
  14. Try wrapping some teflon tape around the base of the cup to seal it a bit better when placed in the bed. Then look at your air source. Not all pumps are created equal. I finally found a air pump that will power 4 3" beds at a time.
  15. I heat the jigs in a frying pan, grab the hook with pliers and then paint.
  16. It all depends on how much lead you get hurt with. Small splatters cool pretty quick and give 1st degree burns. Get hit with a large amount and it's a 3rd degree burn. You're not going to absorb enough lead with a 3rd degree burn to matter.
  17. Lead free solders are mostly tin. Tin will harden lead a little but it age softens very quickly. http://www.lasc.us/Kelter_Cast_Bullet_Alloys2.pdf
  18. What size and type of blades are you using?
  19. Home Depot, Lowe's or almost any craft/hobby store.
  20. Antimony is used to harden the lead and the tin helps it to flow better. I use nothing but pure soft lead for my lure/jig casting. Don't have a problem with it.
  21. I just posted about a great tool for bending heavy wire.
  22. Tee beads is the only thing that comes to mind.
  23. I've managed to get the wire form opening to the front. I'll take a look at the mold to confirm something that's been bugging me about this.
  24. Hey guys! If you're a Muskie fisherman you know that finding a decent tool to work with heavy wire is almost impossible. Look no more. http://dubrofishing.com/products/bucktail-twister Du Bro now has the wire former for you. I'm not affiliated with them at all. Just noticed they finally had the product.
  25. I'll take some pics tomorrow and get them posted.
