  1. Merry Christmas And A Great Fishin And Lure Makin Year To All Of You .. Thanx For All The Great Information !!
  2. I think you can find the answers to your questions by pulling a "Search" in Soft Plastics. Then if you find something that you are not sure of ask the question .... Lets us know if you cannot find what else you may be looking for. The Forum is full of this information JSC
  3. I'm with Nova on this ... it could also be this along with overheating .. let us know what cures it JSC Another thought ... You arent using Iodized salt are You ???
  4. Thanx BD .. I will look into it .. if I see how much it is mite mess up my mind !!! Would be an interesting thing to check out. JSC
  5. One thing I have never seen nor so far able to figure exactly is ... the cost of Electrictiry to complete the process (would need a seperate meter). Any one figured out this cost ??? I would think that you could take the ratings given for the .. example a Prest Poto ... and of course a stirring motor and roughly figure the use. Just a few thoughts JSC

    Piano Wire

I have used it a lot in smaller diamater ... you do have to "Tune" it a lot ... it will "Tarnish" ... otherwise good results. JSC
  7. I leave it in the pot .. Fact is before I shut it down I make sure it is full. Part of the instructions on the Old SACO pots was to do this. Others may do different. Hope this helps JSC
  8. Delayed Have A Great Thanksgiving Could not get on yesterday ... Keep up the Good Work Jerry JSC
  9. "I was also wondering how I could put some flashabou strands instead of glitter into the soft plastics." Your other question has been answered ... in an open mold lay in a layer of plastic then the material you want to use then finish filling the mold. Takes some practice ... In inserting a weighted hook wether it be Jig Head or what have you I have found that with a OPEN MOLD Pour insert hook and then finish pouring You can with practice only make one pour insert and all will cover ... I use a wire bent to cradel the hook and at the eye goes thru it across the mold ... i know clear as mudd .. but I think U get the idea. My 2 cents hope it helped JSC
  10. I have used Dacron works the same as Nylon and could not find any deteriation in it .. JSC
  11. I have done a little ... Braid such as Spectra .... did not work for me .. regular nylon or mono is OK (mono cuts out real easy)You could use wire OK but (single strand would cut out real easy I would use braided coated) My 2 cents JSC
  12. " Also was thinking relective foil tinsel would be neat." Try Mylar works good JSC
  13. Just 2 cents worth .. I like the twisted eye for the really tough conditions with hevier wire ... I like the R bend for a little lighter wire and conditions not so tough ... I use an even lighter wire with a coil or safety pin bend for the more open water conditions. I think they all have there good and bad points. JSC
  14. It is better whenever you can when adding hooks, weights & etc to pour the plastic then add the hardware. You will find how much you will have to pour before adding hardware in relationship to how much is replaced by said hardware ... thats about as clear as mud! Sorry about that .. After you have added hardware and need some more plastic then pour it. Remember that cold line and etc must be considered ... right temp of the mold and etc .... It is really hard for me to put the hardware in and them pour the plastic. I hope you got a little bit out of this post .. the main thing it takes is PRACTICE & Patientce (spelling really bad to day) ... My 2 cents JSC
  15. "and that is to never buy line over two years old. Some of the retailers are storing line in non cooled containers, damaging the integrity of the line." The key word to note here is "Never Buy Line Over Two Years Old" ... That does not mean that if you store it correctly that 2 years is its life ... the Rep & Company are CYA .. which is what you would have to do ... But well stored line will last many years ... as far as taking a set ... the warm water trick will do the job .. I have some over 10 years and have no problem (this is using on bait casters ... my right arm will not hold out casting and holding the rod in the same hand on retrive which is, in my opinion, the only way to use a spinning out fit). JSC
  16. Fellows I could be wrong but I think if you keep it out of any light that it will last and indefinit time. Anyone find any thing other than this from a reliable source would like to know about it I have some 1/4# spools that are over 10 years old and having kept them in a drawer have not had any trouble with them (mostly Ande & Berkley). JSC
  17. OK .. see what is happening. I don't think you will keep the lead out of what you are doing ... You only need to get the loop of one end molded in .... not only will you get the lead in but if the one loop does swivele it will not be to the max as both ends need to swivele. You can use the JB Weld to modifiy. Hope this helps My JSC

    Repaints or some oldies

Good Job !!! I really like the Trout Pattern on the Jointed Wiggle Fish JSC

    adding hardener

All ways pour as hot as you can with out scortching. JSC
  20. Try the barrel of a Ball Point Pen. JSC
  21. JSC

    adding hardener

Make sure you stir it in real well as it is real thick. It will make the pouring a little slower as it really thickens it (depending on how much you use). You will need to "play with it" to get it like you want it. JSC

    Hilts Molds

Hi Ted... I have some of them and they all pour well .. the ones I have are about 20 years old ... I think you can only get them direct ... i could be wrong on that ... I think that some one else has bought them out since I purchased the ones I have... Hope that helps JSC
  23. If you can find a good deal on a Laser Printer would be the best as Ink will smear when exposed to too much moisture .... My old ink jet is doing its thing now but if I were getting a new one would consider the Laser simply because of the more permanent print job. JSC
  24. Thanx I will check them out..... JSC
