"I have made a bunch of tubes, but it's been a pain getting the plastic hot enough without getting the bottom layer of plastic too hot. " You must stir the plastic ALOT ... JSC
-
As an added note::: Check out the tutorial on Fluxing ... one of the best pices of information on this subject that you will find Should be mandantory reading for all pouring lead ... I have poured lead off and on for over 40 years and reading this I really learned a lot and it pulled a lot of things together ,, it is worth a reread at times. My 2 cents worth JSC (Note ... read all the information that you can on other threads on this subject and you will be way ahead of the game before you ever light the match on a burner)

"I'm not sure what you think a CNC mold is, all aluminum molds are cut with a CNC machine. " Just to add a little .... At one time there were a lot of "Cast Aluminum" molds made .. I have a good collection of them (mostly custom made) ... Do not know if any one is doing this kind of work today ... There were "Sand Cast" & "Flour Cast" .. the Flour Cast had a brighter smoother finish to them but cost a little more to produce. Just a little trivia ... and does any one know of a person casting Aluminum molds at the present? JSC

Did You by chance try varying the rate of flow? I think that this may be a way to hold down the dents if you can stop and come back. Curious JSC
-
Fellows I dont see exactly why raising the heigth of the pot will do much good with the wires out the top of the mold .... UNLESS ... you are not holding the sprue to the pouring hole .. I have never had any good luck at leaving a gap between the 2 ... seems to cool to fast and you gotta be real accurate and looks like it would take a lot more time ... I just slap the mold to the spout and let her rip from one cavity to the next ... I have poured some spinner baits with a Do It with the wire comming out of the top but had to slightly bend the wire to one side... Clear me up if I am wrong about what you are talking about ....... JSC
-
I just checked out the PDF (2008) for Hilts and they do not state that they pour with the wire down but by having a couple (whcih have not changed) I would assume that they are the same. JSC
-
Just a note ... If Hilts still have them the wire frame points DOWN so that you do not have to worry about the clearance .. I have a couple of Spinner Bait molds from way back .. Will check to see how the latest are built ... Do It should make some this way as so many use bottom pour pots. 2 Cents worth JSC

"With my presto pot I have to heat the plastic in the Microwave or wait 2 hrs for the Presto to heat it up, if it ever gets hot enough." I have used Presto Pots for some time now and have not had a problem with them not heating up .... Are you using a "Stirriing Motor"? ... Having to cook in Micro Wave and then pour into pot ??? Sta Warm has been in the business for many years and make some good products but you are going to have to come off your wallet ... the old saying you get what you pay for applies here as well. JSC

If you have a set of BAR CODE FONTS you are in business (can be purchased) ... if it is for an in house operation you can use what ever ... Example your stk # is 9911-01 .... you would type it using Bar Code Font, print label, scan and the Bar Code reader will read it as such. ... the bar code reader is just another "Input" device (ex. = Keyboard). Just 2 cents worth JSC

You got a good ol oldie ... should be worth a few bucks. The ball is used to "thumb" the reel. JSC

The SKU9756 7” Ribbon Tail 2 cavity 1 pc is on hold JSC

"FLUX' !!!!!!! Read past posts on fluxing some really good stuff. It really sounds like you have some bad stuff in this batch of lead that is stopping it up. Again "FLUX" if its just sitting in the pot you could get some type of corrosive action. 2 cents worth Good Luck and let us know when U get it fixed. JSC

The above was a reminder to me ... The work I have done with Mylar has been with a 1 pc. Mold. JSC
-
I have used regular mylar skirt material ... single strips about 2 to 3 inches (about 1/8th wide) .. pour in a layer then lay the strip in and pour over ... it gets to be quite a chore.. but I have in years past done many thousands ... tried it again a few months back and I quit due to it being so tedious and had orders for it ... gone to metal flake (back in the old days there was not a good metal flake for doing this). High temp did not bother what I was using. Hope that helps JSC
-
Good Lookin baits (sure did take a time for them to load) I think that "Rubbing" the flakes into the side of the mold is keeping them from being "Sucked" Up in the Plastisol .... The using worm oil on the mold first & then sprinkling the Glitter in would get more "Sucked Up" .... Just count on a % of loose flake. My 2 cents worth .. hope it helps JSC
-
I left that one off of my list ... I use them a lot for Spinner Bait Blade swivele and the snap makes for some fast changes of Blades .... Use a crane swivel with a small interlock snap. JSC
-
Small Snap --- interlock ... brass or black #2 or #3 (rosco) in front of a crank bait seems to help it get a little more action ... and lets you change in a hurry. ...... NO SWIVELE (they have there place in live & cut bait Leader Rigs, Carolina Rigging ..... Just not the 2 together (OK so maybe on certain small In-Line Spinners and then I would want a Ball Bearing). Some soft plastic swim baits can get improved action with the same type snap. Everything else NO .... Just 2 cents worth JSC
-
An Ax .. Hatchet .. sharp thick Blade ..... BIG hammer ... Just chop it up .. works for me. Its good to have a pot that you can melt it down ... flux it .. clean it, pour into ingots that will fit in you pouring pot. Have fun .. I could use about 100 #s of some of that free stuff. JSC
-
The name "Beaver" being used in a Forum, seems to me, is bringing them a lot of FREE Advertisement ......... Really "Fishey" that they should complain about using the name anywhere ...EXCEPT on the Product. My 2 cents (I have been known to be wrong ... just ask my wife ) JSC
-
Generaly it is a buy what they want .. you can work up deals on qunaities. JSC
