  2. Almost out of the last of the MF plastic and cant seem to be able to get any. Has anyone here tried the DOP Red Label? The price does make it attractive. I really hate all the bubble in DOP plastisol though. But with the money saved I can buy a vacuum chamber.
  3. Not a great pic, but this is close to what I was going for except the watermelon bled into the blue
  4. Don't know if anyone here watches the " Baitchuckin" videos, but I started making a laminate that he makes, and it actually catches fish. It's called " Moon Juice". One side being a pumpkin watermelon blend, and the other half being clear with blue highlight. I was getting ready to make some more tonight by remelting the leftover pucks which I stored together, and make fresh baits ( 5" stickbaits ). When I took the pucks out, the clear pucked looked burnt, but I hadn't burned it. And I realized the watermelon color had bleed into the clear puck. Being the genius that I am, I checked the last run of stick baits and sure enough they were now totally watermelon color. In all my years of doing this I have had only one other color combo bleed and that was Firetiger. The colorants used were MF, The plastic used was MF. The blue highlight was LureCraft. I may have added some softener. Any idea what would have made the watermelon side bleed into the clear blue highlight side? I have some laminates I made 3 or more years ago that have never bled, yet this combo did. I like this moon juice color, but if the colors run, I'm not gonna make 8 baits just to take with me on an outing. I need to get out to the garage and see if I have some moonjuice left over from last season and see if those bled as well.

  6. Thanks for the correction.
  7. There is no Elaztek. Elaztech is a material developed, produced and marketed by ZMan.
  8. Dang that's good to know. I'm always fiddling around with those colors.
  9. Iwata is the only brand of airbrush I've used and I recommend the eclipse and micron.
  10. Couple of things A ) someone told me years ago that worm dyes are made by mixing liquid plastic worm coloring agent with acetone (or other solvent ) that soaks into a plastic bait and carries the color with it . Not sure if this is a fact for sure but it makes sense . B ) I bought some of the Elaztek type super plastic formula from a member here years ago to try out and you cannot use regular liquid worm coloring agents with these super plastics . I was able to mix in some Mica hilite powders into hot plastic prior to pouring for colored baits but it has to be a powdered type coloring . This probably explains why worm dyes wont work on super plastic baits .
  11. Last week
  12. That's why I suggested contacting Elaztek directly.
  13. Has nothing to do with needing to color the baits. I want to color certain baits as Z-Man nor Strike King make the colors I want.
  14. I use a lot of Elaztech and have never seen a need to color it.
  15. I'm not sure if I've painted Elaztech, but as Mark mentioned, Spike-It pens work really well. Don't see why they wouldn't work on Elaztech
  16. You might try contacting Elaztech, and asking them what to use. If you want to take a "do it yourself" track, try some different stuff and report your results here, so we can all learn from you. If I were going to try it, I'd start with Sharpies, and then Spike-It Dip and Dye. I've always found Elaztech very sensitive to soft plastics, so I would use one bait, trying the dye on different parts of it, so I didn't ruin more than one.
  17. Are there any markers or paints that can be used on Elaztech baits. I'd like to color tails & claws on some of my baits.
  18. Everyone who reads this should take it to heart for example: I took on a contract to pour 17,500 6" two color worms @ .22 ea. The profit was .06 ea. 35,000 strokes trust me I was miserable for most of the pour. When completed they wanted to double the next order, I told them the price would almost double which they balked at and I was kind of happy they did.
  19. Every bait maker has come up with "the big waste of time mix". What gets me is when I make the same mistake a year later. The moments that you hit it spot is the driver, they remind you why it is that you do what you do. It can be integrating snake skin, an 8 layer laminate or color. During my time at the box store I had 3 customers that went in together and ordered 750 bags of Zoom Dirt brush hogs. Clay might be a great color it's funny really it's the ugly baits that work better than our perceived perfect match.
  20. I'm interested as well! Sending message
  21. I would be interested to know what you have. That’s a bunch of molds.
  22. I do something like that I get black or a color that reminds me of clay
  23. I have over 150 molds that I’m not using but haven’t been motivated to catalog and put up for sale. If you are looking for any particular molds, let me know and I will sell at 1/2 retail, OBO.
  24. The Iwata Neo comes with a small air compressor. Hobby Lobby sells it,’get a 40% coupon online
  25. And don't sell yourself too cheap! Charge enough so you can make money, and feel good about yourself. Otherwise, you're committing financial suicide.

    Molds

I recently offered some of my molds on a FB page. Never sold any before and I had no idea that scamming had become a big issue. Really weird when someone questions your integrity, I don't expect everyone to know me but still they could've looked up my profile on FB before posting some rude bs. I bailed and will probably go the ebay route even if it costs me money....messed up world these days.
  27. I'd share a recipe if there was one, I made these from sprew mixes of various amounts.
