  1. Wow , I have lost more than 2 lures to a bad coat ( my fault ) epoxy can be temper mental ( just about any top coat ) 1. measure and mix properly 2. few drops of denatured alcohol to thin, mixed 3. use a decent brush ( better brush helps me ) 4. learning curve hurts sometimes, just learn from your mistakes. D2T is pretty forgiving if you got everything lined up and ready to go, you might want to find some older/trash lures to practice on so the learning curve does not hurt so much. be meticulous. IMO.
  2. very nice, thank you for sharing!
  3. use a comb or something like it, depending on the size of stripes.

I store it the same way, I am totally clueless with the last 2 quarts.

yes sir, I have tried with heat gun, with no heat and then heated lure turner box, all of the baits have some sort of fish eye/not covering areas but only with the new can of KBS! I have sacrificed one of the quarts to my rocks in the back yard so far and if this next batch still has problems the rest of it will be sacrificed.

our Humidity levels are very low, very high humidity for us 55%. for example we had rain last night and our dew point is 31, humidity is 81 but by this afternoon both will drop to less than 30 which is typical for the desert southwest. btw it is only the new batch of Kbs that is having these problems. I can literally dip one blank in old and new KBS, ( side by side ) the old comes out fine but roll the dice to see what happens with the new Kbs everytime.

I live in the desert southwest, humidity is not the problem... it is also stored in a controlled environment and another tackle enthusiast that has been doing this way longer than I have is having the same problems. Maybe we just forgot how, when, and why. btw my year old remainder KBS DOES JUST FINE!

you are not alone, I have had fits with my last 2 quarts of KBS..... bubbles and fish eyes, I have to brush it after dipping to get it to cover properly.
  9. fish eyes usually mean the surface is not clean or paint is not dry ( in my experience ) bubbles can be reduced by thinning the epoxy. IMO
  10. Nice job, My experience with these baits are love/hate! If you get any top coat inside the groves( on the middle material ) it will kill the action of the bait. As far as price goes it is up to the person buying them (It is difficult to put a price on a unproven bait) . The main reason I got into making lures is having something you exactly want, Ex. paint scheme and color, weight and type of finish. IMO
  11. I use a lure turner with no problems, anytime you have KBS pool you will get bubbles. (IMO)
  12. ok, I need some baits made up! I have the bodies in hand and can not find them anywhere.
  13. thanks everyone for your comments, I appreciate the feed back.
  14. Maybe I am just old and grumpy, but I like the truth still.
  15. it seems that the people at KBS are unwilling or unable to answer this simple question. is the yellowing a new formula or a bad batch? I personally don't like the run around, yet they still claim clear as water. they also stated that the yellow tint is a uv stabilizer. so is it a new formula or a bad batch? https://www.kbs-coatings.com/DiamondFinish-Clear.html
  16. both cans I just got had to destroy to open, yes both were yellow tint and not easier to open.
  17. they might want to let people know it is not Gin clear any more
  18. The left bottle of KBS is almost a year old and the right bottle is brand new from Amazon Amazon did refund my $.
  19. very nice video, another skill I have to learn.
  20. without pictures I would be guessing, 1. bad clevis 2. bad bead 3. blade installed wrong if it tries to spins and stops or does the stop and go it is usually the clevis or bead...try having at least 2 beads IMO
  21. practice, using video above or you will get some messed up ones for sure.
  22. leaves many questions ( not a proven finish) but it looks good. is it sold in bottles or cans? how many ounces? durability? price?
